What a weird day, mostly due to an unsettling message on my cell phone - I think it may be phishing but not sure really.  And I'm not returning the call, that much I know.

I NEVER return phone calls, even from numbers that I recognize.  If they don't leave a message asking me to call back (or to just leave a message), then I feel like they don't need me to call back.  And, accidental wrong numbers won't be called back, either.

Last week I received a call from a number I didn't recognize. Often people I need to speak to call from other numbers, so I answer those calls. A male voice I didn't recognize asked, "Did someone call me?" "Not me." Call you? I don't even know who you are! He thanked me and hung up. Did my number find it's way into his phone?  I still don't know how this happened. I didn't think I'd even made a call that day.

If I don't leave a message I don't expect a call back. And I don't leave a message if I know I won't be available to take the call.

Jane, I tried RIVER a few years ago and just couldn't get into it. A slow first episode perhaps, or maybe just my mood that evening. vixmom's words may make me want to try it again.

Thanks for your input.  I will keep that in mind when we watch the first episode.  My brother is always looking for new, to him, mysteries/detective shows to watch so I was glad to pass this one along to him.

I learned today that my neighbor's car was broken into a few nights ago and some items stolen. Her parking space is right next to mine. The guy on the other side of me had left his car unlocked by mistake and a couple low-value items were taken from his car that same night. This is frightening. There's no question that cars often get vandalized while parked on the street -- it happened to me twice -- but not in our little carport.

I NEVER leave anything of value in my car where it can be seen, but, of course, that is no guarantee.

That is very disconcerting.  The fact nothing of value was visible might be why your car was left alone.

I also wondered if it was a photo.  I know that is how people paint their pets in these classes.

That's terrible!  Fortunately, I've never had my car broken into.  It's been keyed, but not broken into.  A couple of friends have had their cars broken into, and one had VERY valuable (to him) vocal scores and music stolen.  He's a music and voice teacher, so it basically was all his teaching material.

I don't know why I didn't think to Google the phone number immediately - I just did, total scam, both the number that actually called my phone and the 866 number they referred me to.  Whew!  These people are such jerks and it's a shame that these scam rings can't be busted with everyone involved arrested.

DR Ginny, the postal service is shit these days. The last priority mail I sent on a Friday was supposed to be delivered on the following Monday to a San Francisco address.  It arrived on a Monday two weeks later.

Yes, she keeps a lot of stuff in her car, in plain sight. It's just too tempting, I'm afraid.

Yes, she keeps a lot of stuff in her car, in plain sight. It's just too tempting, I'm afraid.

I hope she learned her lesson.  Remind her thieves have a reputation for returning to an easy mark.

I actually don't want to block it just yet - I want to give them a taste of their own next time they call, and boy will I.  I am seething about it, actually, because I actually fell for it even though it didn't feel right to me.  The same thing the first time over a decade ago when I got one of those scam IRS calls.  I want to actually end these people's lives

Oh! Vixdad and k watched that awhile ago, the British cop show, right? Very good show but it is mportant to actually watch it don't be doing something else at the same time

I wasn't planning to do anything else at the same time

I have a tendency to glance  at the iPad or fold laundry etc while watching TV, but you may miss  a lot if you don't give it your full attention

...and the recipient just notified me that the envelope was delivered at 3pm today - only 51 hours late.  But she says they’ll consider us on time.

It's a painting class.  There is a sample painting and then the teacher paints it along with us giving step by step instructions.

I've done it about a dozen times now over  the past 2 years and find it very relaxing

The first episode is  a bit slow as  they are introducing the characters and their world, but be very sure to pay close attention to the last few minutes of the episode

I actually don't want to block it just yet - I want to give them a taste of their own next time they call, and boy will I.  I am seething about it, actually, because I actually fell for it even though it didn't feel right to me.  The same thing the first time over a decade ago when I got one of those scam IRS calls.  I want to actually end these people's lives
