I would really like to see Rami Malek win the award for Best Actor.  I thought he was quite wonderful as Freddie Mercury

I think I like Glenn Close for Best Actress, but I wouldn't mind seeing Lady Gaga win for A STAR IS BORN.

Ms. Close is the only one of the actresses I have seen perform in person.  I saw her in BARNUM on Broadway.

It's a network broadcast - MR BK should be able to watch it if he owns a TEEVEE.....buy a little antenna and connect it where the cable box goes.....and you have FREE TV.....only one of my teevees is hooked to cable....the others I watch over the air stuff.....

I don't stream like everyone else in the world....

I am hoping my family comes to church this morning. I haven't seen the baby since the day of the Super Bowl, which is when I was exposed to the cold and got sick. I am finally better.

Re: Hair
It is part of the season ticket package for our local theater. I will see about trading those in for an extra ticket for Wae-Ling to see Spamalot and Sound of Music.

I have seen Hair twice -- once at a local theater and once on the Broadway tour. I didn't like it either time, so I guess I won't like it a third time.

They are also doing the one about the dog in the night. I didn't care for that one, either. Maybe I can trade those in for something for Wae-Ling as well.

My friend asked F. Murray Abraham what the "F" stood for, and Mr. Abraham said in his iciest voice:  "Famous."

Not sure if I can take the OSCARS....I sort of like them, but hearing all the acceptance speeches turned into political rants is a bit much for me....either way they go....

While I no longer watched all of the Oscars I would watch clips, including many of the acceptance speeches.  I agree with you.

Good luck trading the tickets for both shows for something for Wae-Ling.

The only sports column I have ever read was Mitch Albom's when he wrote for the Detroit Free Press.  His articles were insightful, interesting, and well written.  Usually they were more human interest stories than just about sports.  Then Mitch began writing about his Tuesdays with his friend Morrie.

When I saw he had written a book about those Tuesdays I couldn't wait to read it.

Very strange.  The ferry boat, that leaves from the dock a few blocks from me, just sailed almost straight east after leaving the dock instead of its usual path straight north to Vashon Island.

It must have something to do with the tides.  Halfway across the Sound it made its turn to the north and made it safely to the dock at Vashon.

His "friends" and colleagues may call him Murray, and he was charming to the Drama Book Shop owners, but he was a rude asshole to the staff. At a Thanksgiving party last November, we were talking about our days as clerks and waiters.  F. Murray Abraham, Jeff Daniels, and Marlo Thomas ranked highest as the worst.  To that list I would add Fran Lebowitz, a writer I like but a person I'd rather see under a bus.

DR JohnG, I love Hudson Talbott's work!  I have his dinosaur books.  Do you think he'd be interested in illustrating the Annabelle and Thatch stories?

I can ask him how he goes about matching storyteller with artist. He is his own author for a lot of what he does.

How I met Hudson was interesting. Into the Woods had just been published, and my friend Carol told me that she knew Hudson and that he lived nearby. So, I asked her to get me in touch with him. He was happy to do an interview.

During the time we talked, we somehow discovered that we had graduated from the same high school in Louisville. He's 10 years older than me, but we knew many of the same people, had some of the same teachers, etc.

When I started at the paper in San Antonio, the HR director turned out to have been a classmate of Hudson's, which we discovered when started talking. Small world.

We have stayed in touch over the years. It's been an interesting evolution for Hudson. In the beginning, he was not all that interested in life in Greene County. Now, he's become all but mayor of the town of Catskill. he's done a great deal of good promoting the town and working on needed improvements.
