IT'S NOT OVER UNTIL THE FAT LADY SINGS

Well, you've read the notes, you know when the fat lady's next concert is, you know what she'll be singing, and now it is time to post until the fat lady cows come home.

Well well well.

I liked the merry go round that used to come to the county fair, and a ride called the tilt a whirl.  Sometimes I got sick riding the t a w - but it spun you around in such a neat fashion, I couldn't resist it.

As an adult - I love THE RACER a plain old wooden roller coaster in Paramount's King's Island - and the basket ferris wheel also at KI.

My favorite ride I NEVER got to take is 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea at Walt Disney World which was never in operation the times I was there.

Worst ride - the Teacups at Disneyland.

Carousel is one of my favourite musicals. That is as close as I get to fun fair rides.

Oh and the Drop Zone and The Beast roller coaster at KI.

Drop Zone is one of those tower drops....whew 3 seconds or so of free fall from about 300 feet.

We've got a quorum on the forum.  Now, if only the quorum would stop staring at their various and sundried toenails and post.

I've been on several rollercoasters over the years, but I've never been on one that's gone upside-down.  I don't think that I've specifically avoided rollercoasters that go upside-down, it's probably just that whenever I've decided to go on a rollercoaster, the one(s) available didn't go upside-down.

Here's a fascinating factoid for your mental delectation: Three minutes ago George was replying to a post.  His post never showed up.  What does this mean?  He wrote a post then thought better of posting it?

The only amusement park my family ever went to was Disneyland.  One of my earliest memories, in fact, is from the year they opened, on the Snow White dark ride.  The witch scared the bejezus out of me.

I always loved the Teacups.

The Jungle Riverboat never impressed me that much.

I do fondly remember the old version of the mine train, which took a leisurely ride through the Frontierland back country.  That's a roller-coaster now, of course, which says something about what people enjoy these days.

I, too, loved the teacups, although I used to over do it and get quite nauseous.

I must say that it is amusing that since they did some fixing of the roof so that the leak thing can't happen anymore, there has been no rain.  Go know.  Other parts of the city have had plenty, but here, nope.

Truth to tell, I enjoy a good roller-coaster ride.  My first lover, Jason, couldn't stand 'em, thought they should be banned.  Of course, the one time we went to Six Flags Magic Mountain, the group we were with dared him to ride each and every one.  (This was shortly after the Colossus opened.)  Fortunately for Jason, there were places where he could get a beer to steady his nerves both before and after the rides.

Dinner was a replay of a combination I'd tried before: venison loin chops, beets, and doctored-up oatmeal.  Or, at least that's how I'd planned it.  Twice I had to shift gears.

First, I discovered very late in the game that we were out of oatmeal!  Yes, out!  I instead cooked a pot of barley, which I doctored with dried cranberries, chopped pecans, and sage.  The end result was all right, but it would have been better with oatmeal; barley is a little too bland.

The second shift was when I discovered that what I'd thought were venison loin chops were instead venison tenderloins.  This was no problem at all; I simply had to watch them as they grilled, to make sure I didn't overcook them.

The beets, which I'd roasted earlier, were easy to prepare: I diced them, added some white onion that I'd also diced, and cooked them in some apple cider.  Apple cider is one of my favorite poaching mediums for veg.  Dressed with a little parsley and a couple tablespoons of sour cream at the very end, and it was quite presentable and tasty.

Der Brucer enjoyed it all.  But I've got oatmeal on my shopping list.

I'd post faster, but it takes a few minutes to type up these longer posts.

I was busily searching EBAY for things I cannot afford to buy.

MR BK - you can go to www.epinions.com and put in your model of television set and read opinions of civilians who have bought and are using said model.
