Except fir square dancing...

Good morning, all!

When I was a kid we all learned square dancing in gym every year from kindergarten right through7th grade

Then when I was in my teens and early 20s they used to have regular square dancing nights at Jones Beach and my friends and I would go

I got a new Edward R. Hamilton Books catalogue in yesterday's post and stayed up way too late reading it.  I fed the cats, went back to bed till 7:30, turned off the alarm, and slept until 8:00, when Annabelle decided that I must get up.

A lot of the local churches would have square dancing nights and I would go

DR vixmom, I don't know nuthin' 'bout opening night tickets.  I can't remember how it was done for Finian's Rainbow, but I think it was handled through the company management.

In fact, attending one particular square dancing night can be shown as a pivotal moment in my life as it eventually led (over the course of many years) to meeting Vixdad

I had a very strange dream about Mr Stephen Sondheim last night.  I was at his house, and he and several musicians were trying to musicalize barking dogs and mewing cats.  I remember little else about the dream now except, at the end of it, he and I were walking down a street in a suburban neighborhood; it was night and very misty.  We said good night, and I watched him walk down the street and vanish in the mist.

Of course.  I remember the party more than the ticket acquisition or where I sat.

Fay deWitt!  I did a dreadful production of Strike Up the Band in 1989 or so for California Music Theatre, directed by a total ass, Gary Davis, with Fay, Tom Bosley, Avery Schreiber, and Donny Most.  I liked her so much.  Schreiber and Most were really fun, but Bosley was a creep.

I must get my own arse into gear. This is a Shrek day for me, and there is plenty to do in preparation.

We saw Donny Most in GREASE - he played Vince Fontaine - and he was very funny....and we talked to him afterwards at the Stage Door and he was asking everyone where the nearest golf course was! LOL.

I loved to do the Twist....all of them.....

Of course since I attended the Eilene Garrison School of Dance, I learned tap - which I love - and some jazz....

The DISCO DANCING phase was great and I loved that - still do now and then....and of course a bit of ballroom now and then....particularly the swing dances East and West Coast, the chacha, the rhumba, and the waltzes....

I love doing choreography for musicals.....and when I direct, I usually do my own....my favorites I have done are Guys & Dolls, Joseph/Dreamcoat, Pajama Game, and Little Women.....

Jane, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings wrote The Yearling and Cross Creek.

Thank you.  I have only seen the movie of The Yearling.  I just downloaded a sample of Cross Creek and see the resemblace.  It is only 99 cents so I will probably purchase it.

...but now, even though I still don't exercise, if I do, I don't dislike it as much as I used to.

 I hear you. I still that way sometimes.

You dance which is fantastic exercise.

I did revise a couple of small things and sent the resume on again. I'm sure Kathe would get a nice signing bonus if they hire me, and this might be only round one of the resume if they reach out to me. The next would be more tailored to a certain job and need a cover letter, all of which means another round of gut-churning fun.

Gut churning fun is a good description.

This was wonderful - smart and cheeky - just like Clifton Webb. When is Michael Druxman going to put a series of his biography- one-acts on Netflex or PBS with super actors so we can have another perspective of American actors for posterity. Some of the young people don't know who Elizabeth Taylor is. I had forgotten about Mr. Webb until Michaels fun and heart warming book. Mr. Webb was one of my faves as a youth. What a remarkable treasure chest of history Michael Druxman has written for us. Please take the next step and put them on video.

I loved the twist as a kid. Still do. The ballroom I go to on Saturday nights plays it fairly regularly. Everybody gets up to dance.
The hustle is great fun, and disco music just makes you want to dance.

As the song says, I can mashed potato, I can do the twist.

Would you have to move if you take this new job?

I don’t think so. I would, however, have to travel a lot.
