Oh I just saw Joan Baez in a French documentary about Nuremberg and the parallels with the Vietnam War.....Marcel Ophuls....it was very interesting.

IF Oklahoma for TV (imagined for a new audience - heaven help us all - and with non-R&H music to boot) actually happens, which I doubt, it will die a very fast death.  History teaches these morons nothing.

I liked the synopsis "the story of farm girl Laurey Williams and her courtship by two rival suitors," except they left out the fact that one's a sociopathic antisocial brute.

Which one - Rodgers or Hammerstein?
My money is on Rodgers, whose daughter actually sued him for plagiarism. I'd love to see Yorkey and Kitt take on a Freaky Friday where Richard  Rodgers and Mary Rodgers switched bodies!

Oh wait, that said two suitors, not two authors.  :)

These days, everyone seems to be saying Curly's full name Curly McLain.

I can't read that full name without thinking of Shirley MacLaine.

This was in the blurb for the pilot of the :"Anna and the King" sitcom in the 1970s:  "With Anna's assistance, the King hosts a dinner party to impress the visiting British."

Can't you read that as "With Ethel's assistance, Lucy hosts a dinner party to impress the owner of the Tropicana."

Each week, Curly and Jud will fight to the death. Jud will die a different way every single week.

Joan Baez was excellent. She sang several songs from Tom Waits, several Dylan numbers, John Lennon, Paul Simon. She also sang a wonderful song about Obama singing Amazing Grace at the funeral for the victims of Dylan Roof's massacre. She had some great stories about Martin Luther King Jr.

In all, a fine evening.

was used by Monty Python as the theme song for "The Attila the Hun Show" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6gf7ea

I was thinking a Freaky Friday Mary Rodgers mash-up - maybe Jud and Curly switching bodies, so Curly shoots, but it’s really Jud in Curly’s  body shooting Curly in Jud’s body!

Thinking more of Mary's immediate offspring are still around than Richard Rodgers anyway.

Even though she somehow was responsible for their TV show being cancelled, her co-star Tom Bosley spoke with great compassion for Debbie:

The lunch was at a well-thought-of Eyetalian jernt in Westwood, but I didn't care for it much.  VERY ordinary Caesar, undressed, which I hate - put the dressing on, toss it, then serve it.  Seems basic to me.  Then pasta bolognese with almost no flavor at all and very small portion.
