T.O.D.

It bugs me when people use their cell phones in a theater, movie or legit, even if they're just texting.

BK,

You didn't mention star Clifton Webb in your comments on THREE COINS IN THE FOUNTAIN.

Since he's the subject of my newest one-person play, you'll please forgive my mentioning him here.    :D

BTW: An audio version is currently in the works.

We had a pretty good Act 1 tech yesterday. It was great to see that the school acquired proper costumes and props, and the cast sounded very well prepped. This should be an enjoyable run.

Big pit in this one:  about fifty! -- but only the normal complement is playing at any one time. The MD has people doubling for training and experience purposes, so a lot of them are switching off from one song to another. It's all students, plus the four hired hands (two keyboardists and two guitarists), and if I say so myself, these four electronic instruments make a lovely sound.

Act 2 this afternoon/evening.

I wish I could locate a wonderfully written capsule review I'm remembering from The New Yorker some years back, regarding a performance of Parsifal or some similarly quiet, austere piece in which they likened the audience's coughing to goats or sheep placidly calling and responding to each other from one hillside to another.

There was also this one:

Speaking of coughers:  I agree, BK!  I often think, can't you just wait a minute and cough during the applause?

Congrats to DR jan on her milestone.  Speaking of which, it looks like I have one coming up.  Of course, it's very modest considering I've been posting about 10 years.

Another glorious day in Indiana.....there is street work in my neighborhood - so trucks and bulldozers and other equipment gets parked in front of my house....the corner down the street is torn up and a big pile of dirt is on the side of the street....but the workers have moved down to the other corner.

Someone struck a gas line last night, so the gas company was here until about 8 p.m. securing everything....

If I want to get out of the neighborhood, I have to go the other way....

I like everything in Three Coins in the Fountain EXCEPT Maggie McNamara whose irritating presence ruins everything she is in for me.....

She destroys her friend's career and doesn't ever say I'm sorry or mention it again.....

I remember the 1966 version of Stagecoach.....and it was so jarring that it took place in a forest instead of out in the desert, that I couldn't finish watching it....

I just love that you can walk to work and stop at the market, after droppjng your car off.

Tuesday morning greetings!  I've going as a guest today to a book group based at a local country club (of which we're not members).  The book we're discussing is The Widows by Jess Montgomery and the author is joining us.

Jan, I’m not a fan of traditional meals. I rarely want to eat something because of the calendar. So, it could be beef tenderloin or pot roast on Thanksgiving, shrimp for Christmas, etc. i think the seder dinner is about the only traditional meal for me. Unlike Ethel Merman, I don’t bring ham sandwiches to that one.

Last night on HBO was the first episode of the miniseries GENTLEMAN JACK.....it just happened to come on at the right time....I watched it.

Most entertaining - very good show....if someone has HBO and is looking for something to watch.

I agree...except sometimes you just can't. ::)

I've been the perpetrator (really, the victim) of needing to cough and as a regular theater goer, I do try to minimize the noise or try to time it to loud moments, but sometimes there's just no possibility.  And if I'm in the middle of a row, trying to get out to the lobby can be more of a disturbance than trying to muffle the sound.
