Wow, would they really hire John Travolta to play Edna in HAIRSPRAY movie?

http://www.nypost.com/entertainment/41232.htm

I read that and it made me want to vomit on the ground! Even if there wasn't a chance that it would ever actually happen. :P

Guy Haines as Evita.

I'd pay to see that! ;)

My prediction for tonight is that I will finally finish this Rhetorics paper.

I don't like sarsaparilla.

Feel-better vibes for Dear Reader Elmore and anyone else who needs them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I actually don't know that I've ever had SARSAPARILLA, pardner.

Got lox and bagels.  That way I can eat something later, too.

Countdown to 100,000 postings.

MBarnum, yes that might be the way to go.

I gave my Oscar predictions days ago, and I stand by them. But for the record, they are:

MILLION DOLLAR BABY, Jamie Foxx (Actor), Hiliary Swank, Morgan Freeman, Cate Blanchett, Clint Eastwood (director).

These are not who I'd necessarily LIKE to see win but rather those that I think WILL win.

I've had my Oscar eats alreadyL fried chicken and rice and gravy. I'll probablky have some jelly beans while the show is in progress. And maybe a bowl of soup around 9 or 10 if I get hungry.

Last year I scored 100% in my Oscar predictions of the top categories. First time I had gotten them all right in about 15 years.

I know I will not be watching Star Jones Reynolds on E! for her interviews priot to the start of the ABC show, but I don't really want to watch the Rivers clan on the TV Guide channel either. Maybe I'll watch some CSI: MIAMI episodes until the actual shoiw starts.

What time does the official pre-show start?  Not the stupid stuff (well, the pre-show is stupid, too).

The ABC Oscar countdown starts at 5:00 p.m. and the actual Academy Awards ceremony starts at 5:30 p.m.

As for what to eat during the broadcast, I have some left-over lasagna from yesterday's dinner.  I made dinner for my family (only the second time since I moved here!)  If you don't know, I rent my house from and live right next door to my sister.  Our parents only live about 10 miles away, so it's no hardship for them to come over...it is for me, though!  I'm not the neatest person ever to live, so I can't invite them over unless the house is cleaned (which is quite rare).  You'd think that being gay would include a built-in neatness gene, but no!  I have to be the slob of the family!

Good Afternoon!

Thanks for clarifying the tape-delay issue - or rather the non-tape delay issue.  I just figured that since some awards shows are tape delayed to and from the West Coast...  Aren't there some?

In any case...

DR GEORGE - In 1950 the best actress nominees included Gloria Swanson in  Sunset Boulevard and Bette Davis in All About Eve and Judy Holliday in Born Yesterday.  The money was on Davis or Swanson....but Judy won!

This is one case where that isn't the case! ;) The Oscars are too important an award to be delayed!  That could NEVER happen...unless it used to happen.  I wouldn't know. ::)

I remember someone bringing in some SARSPARILLA root into school when I was in the fourth or fifth grade.  We boiled it up to make SARSAPARILLA tea in class.  Then we boiled up some more, added some sugar, boiled it some more to reduce it, cooled it, then took some CO2-ized water, and made SARSPARILLA soda.  Quite yummy from what I remember.

-Oh, and I remember chewing on a piece of SARSPARILLA root for a few days too.

OK - I'm gonna bundle up and head out for a walk - just need to breath some fresh air - albeit cold - and stretch my legs for a bit.

*I'm also in the mood for some junk food, so I may stop into 7-11 and see what new "junk" is on the shelves.

OH! DR George - Was it you that mentioned the new Hershey's "Take 5" bars?  I actually don't mind the pretzels.  And 7-11 now has a "Take 5" brownie.  Hmmm....A Slurpee and a Brownie...

Hmm...

Laters...

Yup, that was me.  I like all the other stuff in it, and I like chocolate covered pretzels, but the combination of all that stuff was just overkill.  I (personally) just didn't care for ALL of it together.  Just my 2¢.

Judy Holliday won by default. Bette Davis AND Anne Baxter were nominated for ALL ABOUT EVE, and Anne was a Fox baby, so naturally they supported her. Bette was a free lance actress by that time and so was Gloria Swanson. Judy had signed a contract with Columbia, so she had their full backing. Eleanor Parker was the other nominee that year - for CAGED. She undoubtedly finished last in the voting.
