This must be the first given from the audience. I hate that idea

Cate Blanchett is presenting from the audience.

Good choice.  Didn't Brad Bird do THE IRON GIANT?

Brad Bird and Vin Diesel did indeed do THE IRON GIANT.
(now, where is TCB for a line like that?)

Cate is so beautiful, she could've presented from the balcony and still been classy.

These changes to eliminate the long walks are really good. Helped speed the process considerably.

I'll take the speed.  Interesting format which will more than likely be dumped next year.

Drew looks fabulous

Agree that the presenting from the audience idea is awful.

Oh no!  This song sucks!  We need Asslee Simpson to sing this and do a hoedown.

I've never even heard of the movie that the song that Beyonce (sp?) is singing, came from.

Doing the award in the audience wasn't as bad as I thought, but still, if you win, you should get your walk to the stage

YIKES!!!

Beyonce just "accidentally" said something naughty in her phonetically-taught French!

And stop popping it up!

Heck, I would have rather had Charlotte Church!

And she's dancing too!?!?!?!?!

Couldn't we have had subtitles for the lyrics. Would like to know what she's singing about.

Did Beyonce (sp?) sing this song in the movie...and why isn't Minnie Driver singing the song from "Phantom"??

The MULTI-talented Drew Barrymore?  Hmmm.

I'm going to say that MORON is not strong enough for Mr. Cates - presenting and accepting from the audience - excuse me, this is the ACADEMY AWARDS!

Beyonce - heaven help me.

And if this stupid, stupid audience stands up one more time I may have to change the channel.  I mean, they STOOD UP for Chris Rock's entrance.  Does a standing O mean nothing anymore?

Why can't they have "real" singers?

ABC is trying to speed things along, get all the awards presented and give everyone a chance to say something. The alternative is to take half of the awrds and put them at the Tecnical Oscar ceremony where they won't be seen or heard.

I think it's a reasonable compromiose.

That's not my take on it at all - my take is they're trying to tart it up.  It takes the same amount of time.  The only thing they're saving occasionally, is a thirty-second walk up to the stage.

Just seems kind of informal DRMATTH....I understand the reasoning.  The presentations and thank you speeches are NOT the things causing the time problems.
