Watching a dreadful movie called The Actress with Spencer Tracy, Jean Simmons and Teresa Wright. Screenplay by Ruth Gordon based on a play of hers. Directed by George Cukor. And it's hokey beyond belief. I skipped to the last 20 minutes and even that's going to be a long time.

Went to a friend's birthday party tonight (her birthday's not until Tuesday). I grilled some Costco steaks and they were wonderful as always.

And Raffles is a clever thief, not a cleaver thief.

Well that gives an entirely different meaning to the movie, and here I was visualizing frantic chefs in kitchens everywhere!

Some interesting people at auditions.  I read for three different parts, only one of them I probably would not be considered for.

A young woman in her twenties - when the director asked if there is anything anyone wanted to read for that they hadn't done yet....piped up and said she wanted to read for the cemetery plot salesperson.

She said she thought it would be interesting if the part was played by somebody who wasn't so OLD and out of  it....but was young and vital.....

I said: "Thanks."  And it didn't make her bat an eyelash...her reading was much the same as her reading for the Call Girl in the dream sequence.....

Did you raise your hand and say you'd like to read for the Call Girl part because you thought it would be interesting to have  it played by someone who is worldly and has expertise and experience rather than someone young, fumbling and ignorant?

:))

Watching the start of The Gospel of Eureka, a documentary about Eureka Springs, Ark., where the people manage to host a passion play and deal with homosexuality in their community, mostly, in a very warm, loving way.

I can't speak for Washington, but it's customary in both California and Virginia for sellers to pay closing costs. Did the seller's agent not inform him? That should have been discussed when pricing the condo.

Doing a bit of googling it doesn't seem to be standard here.  I can't remember who paid ours.  I think it was the seller, or they at least paid a portion of it.

I think that here in Washington the buyer usually pays, but when I bought my condo, I asked for the seller to pay and she did.

We are watching Wizard of Oz, because we can't believe that Wae-Ling has never seen it.

What does she think of it?

We felt she needed to see it before seeing Wicked.
