So tonight we're back in the saddle with Disaster!

I shall take a quick look through the book to make sure there's nothing I was supposed to remember or tweak or whatever, then once again it'll be time to pack and load everything into the car. This time, at least, the gear will stay there for the next two weeks.

We have tech/dress rehearsals tonight through Thursday, then Friday off, and shows on Saturday and Sunday. Final dress rehearsal applies to the band, too, as we'll be onstage wearing frilly colored tux shirts.

The Friday off thing is so weird, but that's what the two major theaters in that part of the state have done for years. I've never encountered it elsewhere. Friday is dark and Saturday night is the opening. So, on the first weekend there are only two performances, and a regular three on the following weekend of the two-week run. I have no explanation for this.

I've never heard of such a thing, either!  Why would you take off the night before you open?? :o

And why would you give up the Friday night in the first place?

Does anybody know is actor Jon Cypher is still with us?

If so, what's he doing?

(I knew Jon back in the day.)

Checked the imdb, and find no DOD, yet he has no credits after 2001.

Wikipedia says he's 87.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Cypher

Wow!  I didn't know Jon had had that accident.

Actually, I first met Jon via Howard Keel, my former publicity client.

Howard was about to do I DO! I DO! on stage, and he asked if I could arrange a screening of THE FOURPOSTER (w/ Rex Harrison & Lilli Palmer) for him.  I called my contacts at Columbia, and set it up.

Since I'd never seen the picture before, I also went to the screening. Cypher, a friend of Howard's, was also there.

Some time later, my 1st wife and I were going to marriage counseling (Obviously, it didn't work.), and the therapist brought in Cypher, who was a therapist in training.  We recognized each other, which made it rather amusing for the ensuing sessions.

After that, I guess Jon's career took off.  He did films, "Hill Street Blues," etc., and (I assume) he gave up on being a therapist.

I did not get to the podiatrist, thanks to the screwed up MTA buses.  At 57th and Fifth, I called my HMO, told them there was no way I'd be there close to my time, and rescheduled for next Monday.  I then stopped at Pildes and they told me my glasses - with insurance - would cost me $700+ which I refused to pay.  When they got it down to $511.00 I purchased them.  I need to talk to my HMO.

Is there a Costco you can get to?  My glasses  used to run me between 600 - 800 and once I started going to Costco I never paid more than 250. And that is with progressive lenses, titanium frames, astimatism, prisms, ground down to be extra slim, scratch resistant and that technology that makes dark outside

If you can't get to a Costco let me know and I'll come get you and bring you to mine  once this blasted wedding is over ( if you can wait until late July )

I do not know of a Costco in Manhattan and the moment has passed. The glasses are paid for.  I do appreciate your generous offer.

Well, Stella and Thatch both rejected tonight's dinner, so I guess I will not purchase Fancy Feast Salmon & Shrimp again.

We went out to do some errands and I pumped gas into my new car for the first time.  The tank opening is on the passenger side, which is opposite to where it was on my former car.  It’ll take some getting used to.

Just look at the direction the arrow is pointing to know which side your gas tank is on.

Yes, DR Jane, that arrow is helpful.  I just find it more difficult to pull up to the pump.

And on the Buick, it's on the opposite side from the Mazda. It's now on the driver's side. Still irritates me after more than a year.

George, I think the Tobin Center here books from the same places that your theater books their acts. We've got both Menopause the Musical and An American in Paris on the bill. And we've had a few other acts you're getting, including Pilobolus, which is outstanding.

Watching a charming film from Varda called Le Bonheur, or Happiness. For the main character, it means having a gorgeous wife, kids and life and then have a gorgeous mistress on the side. Everybody seems to be happy. The music is Mozart, the colors are playful and bold, the bodies are beautiful. I've got 20 minutes left and there's been nothing but sunshine and, well, happiness. I'm not waiting for a plot.

We got a little more rain today. The plants are happy and the temperature has been in the 70s and low 80s. Tomorrow it gets back up to 92.

I burned my thigh .  I was wearing shorts and resting my laptop on my lap and it  got hot so gradually that   I was like the proverbial frog in a pot of slowly heating water;by time I realized how hot it had gotten I was already cooked

Aren't you glad you didn't pick the mother-of-the-bride dress with the peak-a-boo thighs?

Seriously, I hope you're OK.
