In the mail yesterday: The Comedy Classics boxed set.
AUGHGHGHGHGH! I'm inundated with stuff I am beginning to believe I'll never be able to fully enjoy.
Baby needs a change in his life!
And surprise! Surprise!
Can I possibly have won the title card to "There's No Business Like Show Business" in an eBay auction for under $100? Last few times this card has been offered -- and in lesser condition than the card I won -- it went for more than $200.
Much ballyhoo from me over it!
I'm going to play devil's advocate on the "Bringing Up Baby" issue. I enjoy it -- and DR Jane, I suspect BK does, too, at some level -- because of its pacing and the antics of its costars. But...it is a bit too frenetic. I've always taken it as a put-on...Hepburn's forced laughs...Grant's unbelievable naivete (no man who ever looked that good was ever that naive).
It's the sheer absurdity of the situation -- the spoiled girl with the pet "Baby" that takes a rare dinosaur bone and buries it. The supporting cast is wonderful, too.
I enjoy watching the film, but when it's over, I'm exhausted.
