With all the talk about the creature wasn’t nice. I decided to watch it. I’m looking forward up the new cut. A couple of interesting things. The jacket cover says the running time and the video runs 81 minutes and the IMDb (not always correct) says it 88. A couple of observations. How did they put the translator on the creature with our being attacked? Was there a scene filmed and cut? Also I know you did the singing voice of the creature but did Max use John’s voice because he found the creature. Did you ever consider Broderick Crawford to sing it? Will you be interviewing the other surging cast members as extras?

Here are the actual run times:  Naked Space, if I'm remembering correctly, runs seventy-six minutes, despite what the packaging says.  My preview cut of The Creature Wasn't Nice ran 88-minutes, so the iMDB is correct.  My current version runs 86-minutes.

I don't think you can assign logic to the plot of The Creature Wasn't Nice.  Perhaps they lowered the translator onto its head from above.  I did provide the voice - me, not the character of John.

Chas, will the director reach out to him, even if just to email thank you for coming.

Or is it better not to ask unless he has something to say?

No idea, as I know literally no one involved there. I only got to know the MD and musicians.

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep or close to it.  I was up at ten-thirty, answered e-mails, had several telephonic conversations, but hadn't heard a peep from the car place.  I called, was told my service agent's name was Dave and that he was with a customer.  He called me back about fifteen minutes later - it was very clear the car hadn't even been looked at let alone diagnosed.  What is, I wonder, the point of leaving a car the night before, if they're not going to look at it first thing in the morning?  Anyway, he just called - at the moment they can't get it to start - he asked if the battery was dead and I told him it's barely a year old and shouldn't be dead and that if it is it's under warranty.  So, the next step is doing a diagnostic to find the problem, which they charge $175 for, but which is applied to the repairs.  I then got strong with the guy, telling him I'd had a really bad experience with the previous owners of that dealership and that he had to be straight with me every step of the way, and that he cannot give me wrong information or do anything that's not real - I told him if that's what it feels like, I take it instantly to another service place for a second opinion.  He promised me he would take care of me.  So, I probably won't hear anything until tomorrow morning.

After many, many years of mixed experiences my preferred way to buy a car is this: find a late-model, mint-condition quality car, with low miles and at a good price. Then take it to a good independent mechanic. For warranty work it has to go to the dealer, but most things can be done by the independent. Independents can't stay in business long if they don't do good work and many have loyal followings. There may be some competent and honest dealer out there, but many are bandits. They're in business to sell cars, so do they really have an incentive to do good repairs?

According to the book I’m listening to, “The brain is neither a trifle nor a blancmange.”

Duly noted.

My previous car was a Volvo, which I loved and kept until it was no longer practical, about 13 years. I then sold it to an independent Volvo mechanic, who buys old Volvos, repairs them, and then resells them. I knew he could fix it and that it still had some years left.

Just uploaded the audiobook files for GEE to ACX.  So, both books will go live within the next couple of weeks.  And many thanks to JohnG for being my audio guinea pig.

I did a lot of swearing due to the treatment I--and most of their customers--received from the Volvo dealers. If they can't find what's wrong, they tell you they found something else that needs fixing, whether it does or not. One mechanic, who was previously a Volvo service manager, admitted to me that they do that, then added, "If I didn't do it, they'd find someone else who would."

I truly loathe many of the dealers. (Just in case I wasn't clear.)

I've had repeated positive experiences with the independent I take my car to. Too far for BK to go, however.

If I really like my car I'll spend the money to fix it up. Much cheaper than buying a new car. What I save on the sales tax and registration pays for the repair. If I like it, I keep it.

Yes, Lady Jane, the heat was so dry that I woke up with nose bleeds.  The good news is you should be safe from injury for a while as I was very graceful and fell in the yard while feeding the cats.  Did a slide through the dirt onto the walkway ending up with a badly scraped up leg and a long wide bruise across the palm of my hand.

Had a fun trip.  My friends drove me all over creation.  Found out that Toquerville is very small, so small it has no restaurants, markets or anything else.  It's basically a bunch of housing developments.  If you need anything, you have to go to a nearby town such as La Verkin, Hurricane or St George.

Bruce the point of leaving the car overnight is for your convenience.  If you had an early morning appointment your car would have been seen.  Since you didn't is was put into the queue.

We went a Pioneer Day parade in Hurricane.  Very small town with trucks, tractors and horses pulling flat beds filled with children tossing candy to the crowds, kids on scooters and people in pioneer clothing riding horses.

Next time avoid the dry heat and nose bleeds by visiting in autumn.  I bet it is beautiful then.

Thank you for keeping me safe.  I'm glad you didn't break anything.

We even went to touring performance of "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder."  It was done in the little theater at the Tuacahn high school for performing arts.  Really well done and the lead was hysterical.  He reminded me of Tim Curry.

Jane, I think that you're mature enough to handle the upgraded terminology. ;)
