DR JohnG, did you know that in the 1980s Terry Gilliam wanted to make a film of Bernstein's Candide?

That might have been fun. Also, over the top.

Birdy Barnum had quite an adventure last night.

I got home about 11:45 p.m. I walked into his room where I leave a light and television on for him....and he was sitting on TOP of his cage....

I closed the door to the room and got a handkerchief.  When I tried to pick him up, he flapped and eventually dropped down behind the desk where his cage is.  I pulled the drawer unit out and he was standing there....

Eventually he took off again and landed on the floor.  I dropped the hanky over him, picked him up and put him back in his cage.

Adventures with Birdy. Great stuff. They’ll keep you flapping.

Tomorrow the three New York Animal Care Centers have  an adoption day with waived adoption fees for all animals.  Much as I want to go, I know if I do I'll come home with a dog or another cat.  At the moment there are 102 dogs up for adoption at the Manhattan shelter.  I have never seen, in two years of observing daily the adoption lists, that high a number, and I must admit i have a huge crush on little Chance:

Friday afternoon greetings!  We were up early in order to be ready for the piano movers.  We have passed Grandma Palmer’s piano along to Rob and Mary Linda as a housewarming gift.  We followed the truck and delivered a pile of sheet music and the magazine rack to hold it.  The piano looks as nice in their dining room as it did in ours.

Today, the NYC ACC accepted a huge flock of pigeons and three doves.  I wonder if anyone will adopt them tomorrow.

My cardiologist’s office called to summon me in for him to discuss Wednesday’s stress test.  We’re watching an arterial blockage that presents “moderate” risk.  Instead of an immediate angiogram (which presents its own level of risk) I will see Dr. Brown again in 3 months and revisit the issue.

I looked at the Kindles.  The Paperwhite did not entice me.  I liked the Kindle Oasis 2019 e-reader very much and am tempted.  I am still not sure I can bring myself to spend the money when I still need to have a tablet along with an e-reader.

The kindle oasis is the king of all kindles. Everybody I know who has one is completely obsessed.  This would be my #1 choice for a new kindle.

Jane since you are an avid reader I really think that you should consider an e-reader only. You will be less distracted by not having the internet options. And you will get used to it very quickly. Just think of it as having a book. You can't use the internet in your book.  But my main reason for recommending this is because of what you said about headaches. I have heard so many people complain of eye strain when using an ipad or tablet.  I get headaches very often. And have never had one from reading on my kindle.

If I only had a Kindle Ii would not be posting right now ;)

I read a lot of historical novels and really enjoy the ability of searching for information at times.  Before I had a tablet I kept a pen & paper next to my bed to takes notes.  I realize I can do that with the Oasis, however, once my curiosity is satisfied I can immediately return to the book or go to sleep without thinking about it.

That Oasis is truly tempting.

I highlight and type notes on my kindle all the time. I hate it when I am reading a physical book and have to jot down notes on paper.

I've never wanted to look something up while reading. But with my kindle it gives me the definition of words if I'm not sure of something.

It is heartwarming that you were able to pass along a family heirloom knowing it will be cherished.

Vibes DR Ginny.

Was this found because you changed the test to the chemically-induced one?

DR Jennifer a tablet lets you read the definition & also has an option to go to Wikipedia.   I liked the note option on the Oasis.  Since I only take notes when I am reading a book for a discussion, I just begin an email draft & write my thoughts there.  Once I finish my book I do some research using my computer and add more info to my email draft by copying & pasting.
