You'd think this was a holiday or something.

Got an amusing e-mail from Indiegogo telling me our campaign is in its final 72 hours and we might want to do a final push.  Really?  I had NO idea.

Didn't have time to go out for food, so made about three ounces of pasta I had in a box (I'd made the rest previously) with butter and cheese.  I'll get something else after the play reading.

Yesterday I watched UNITED, the British film about the plane crash in 1958 that decimated the Manchester United soccer team. It was quite good.

I seldom take holidays as do-nothing days, because it just means more to do later. I would, however, love a string of do-nothing days.

I went to the nearby salad bar/soup bar/sandwich bar/juice bar/mini green grocer for lunch. Their salad bar is quite extensive. Today I spotted "Mashed Potato Salad," something I'd never heard of. I tried a bit and it was very good. I'll buy it again if I see it again.

It's gotten hot here--88 degrees, plus dew points in the mid-60s. This is quite warm for us and everyone's complaining. We only had a couple days of 86-87 previous to today, so a relatively cool summer. But the complaints! It'll be hot all week, but I do hope that's the end of it.

Jane, I'm reading a book that may interest you. It's DYNAMIC AGING by Katy Bowman. I was interested in her book KATY SAYS, but it was out of print at that time and I couldn't find an affordable copy. That book is now back in print, but DYNAMIC AGING is really more what I was looking for.

According to Ms Bowman, even people who get a lot of exercise aren't really getting enough. She makes a distinction between exercise and movement, and feels we all need to move more. She also says we need to move differently--not just the same exercise over and over. She recommends a series of stretches that look quite easy, but work areas of our bodies that tend to be underexercised. I just started the book, so I can't report of progress one way or another. But I'm certainly anxious to give it a try.

Thanks for the Indiegogo reminder.  There was something I'd thought I wanted, and now I decided I wanted it.

Started the day by marking up my "Mermaid" book.

Next I have to record the Kick Line from "Cabaret" for a rehearsal tomorrow night.

And then I believe I can, and shall, relax for the rest of the livelong day.

I read that first sentence as "making up my mermaid look"

TOD:
It's interesting that Bruce is asking this question today because I just got a new job offer on Wednesday! I've been looking to change departments where I work, and I've been applying and interviewing for the past 10 months. The job I have now started out as probably the best job I've ever had, but it's changed in the past five years and now I'm miserable. I think this new job will be a much better fit for me. I'm a Business Systems Analyst, which I recognize tells you nothing about what I do. Suffice it to say, "it's complicated".

All the best on the new job, Amy.

And a happy birthday to dear reader Ron Pulliam who hasn't been around these here parts in a 'coon's age.

And that 'coon is gray and feeble, I must say.  Happily, I'm still spritely and had quite the weekend, with birthday meals Friday evening, Saturday at noon and a family cookout yesterday afternoon.

To any and all who wish me greetings, thank you from the ventricles of my heart.

To any who wonder if I had dropped off the face of the earth, the answer is "Not quite yet".  I hope to regale you all with parsnips of gossip (parssips, as it were) of goings-on and doin's in the county of Edgefield in the town of Johnston in the near future.

It's rather like Mary Worth.  If you haven't read the strip in the past 40 years, it is "later that same day".

Sigh.

Had an excellent Labor Day dinner. My friends Pam and Cecil hosted. He smoked pork tenderloin and beef tenderloin wrapped in bacon and topped with an amazing bearnaise sauce. I made a Neptune Dip with shrimp and a tiny bit of lobster in it as well as a sardine dip, which only the men ate. It was quite good. Maureen brought a salad. Pam made a peach custard pie for dessert as well as an angel food cake using the whites from the eggs used in the bearnaise.
