Physical therapy went well, and I left there at 12:30, thinking I'd be home by 1:00 if the buses ran smoothly.  I got the 96th crosstown bus easily, then waited at Broadway and 96 for nearly an hour for a downtown 104 bus.  Then, two buses showed up.  The drivewr told me the schedule's screwed up, thganks to the UN being in session.  It tool me nearly 90 minutes to get home from therapy.

Color me really, really pissed.

Damn them!  Damn them all to hell! >:(

DR ELMORE I enjoyed DOWNTON ABBEY very much.....it looked a bit dark on our screen, but it was fun to see everyone....and there seemed to be some future stories to build on if it ever returns to TV or has a movie sequel.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

It seemed to me though that the series started with a brouhaha that an estate could not be left to a daughter or some such....and here we had the irritating eye-popping and denture-clacking Imelda Staunton leaving her estate to her maid/companion/daughter.....

The situation with Downton was the same with the Bennetts in Pride and Prejudice:  the property was entailed to the male heirs. In the Bennetts' case, the heir was the odious Mr Collins; in the Downton case, the original heir drowned on the Titanic.

Good to hear the glowing reports on DOWNTON ABBEY. Not that I'm surprised, exactly, but nothing's guaranteed.

TOD:

I haven't tried the Impossible Burger as I have absolutely no appetite for meat. I have been, nevertheless, interested in how others like it and whether it becomes a restaurant staple. The burger place that I frequent, The Counter, serves them. When I asked the manager how people liked them, she said many people do like them, but was surprised that I asked, as she knows I always order a veggie burger (which DOESN'T taste like meat).

I'm glad to see this. I know many people who feel that they should eat less meat, but just don't get excited about veggies. This is a great alternative for them.

Many years ago there was a great restaurant in West Hollywood--on Sweetzer just north of Santa Monica Blvd--run by a British couple. Half the menu was meat, the other half vegetarian. Such tasty food! They had a vegetarian loaf that I loved called Bubble 'n' Squeak. There's a British dish by that name that I've never tried, but I suspect the resemblance ends there. I tried several times to recreate it at home, but never quite got it right.

I hadn't been to the restaurant, called Taming of the Stew, in a few years, but raved about it to a new boyfriend. We went there one evening. We were well inside before we realized that I was the only female present. Oops. It was now a gay bar. A very nice gay bar, but not the restaurant I'd raved about. So much for being up on good places to eat.

DR elmore I am glad PT went well, sorry about your ordeal getting home.
I thought about you today when a nice young man stood up on the undergroud & offered the woman I was with his seat.  She looks fine but had double hip replacements and he overheard me ask if she needed a seat.

I've been watching THE GOOD FIGHT season 2, in preparation for season 3, which just released. I love this show. Such good writing! The whole cast is really solid, too. I liked its predecessor, THE GOOD WIFE, but I like this one more.

Thanks Jeanne.  It does mean a lotto me, and to Keith since he has done thhe research.  I am hoping for a lead to where my great grandparents are buried.  So far we haven't found them. I am disappointed we will be able to go to the poper grave where my grandfater is.  At least he was found.

Aside from those there are many places I am excited about.

I find it interesting you like it more.  Maybe one of these days we will give it a try.

We met 3 friends at the oldest wine and cheese bar in London.  The first room we sat in is a bit cave like and claustrophobic so we moved our seats.  The cave like room was a designated bomb shelter during the war.

If the original Hard Rock Cafe had an Awesome Burger instead of Beyond I might have tried it.  We can only trust the waiter what it was as it had a different name on the menu.

Jane, there were a couple characters in THE GOOD WIFE that I didn't like. They weren't intended to be sympathetic, but they were so UNsympathetic to me that it detracted. Plus, how long can you go on with a husband-as-philanderer theme? It was much better than I originally expected, but THE GOOD FIGHT doesn't have those issues. Its scope is broader and even the villains are fun to watch.

Larry, many of the Medicare Advantage plans now offer free transportation (cab/Uber/Lyft) to certain doctor appointments. I find it a great help. Have you looked into any of these plans? The ones I'm familiar with have no monthly premium and no copay for your PCP or specialist. I've never liked insurance companies, but I have to say that I'm quite happy with my insurance plan.
