Thursday morning greetings!  Our weather forecast calls for a high today of 90 and a low tonight of 49.  It's hard to believe that's going to be accomplished without a doozy of a thunderstorm, but there's nothing like that predicted.

I am home from therapy.  The cats were underwhelmed to see me.

It's a wet, very gray day today, and I suspect it's affecting my leg joints today.  Everything aches.

The only musical I've seen recently that was as good, if not better, than the film it's based on was OnceMoulin Rouge remains to my thinking one of the absolute worst pieces of crap I've ever sat through,  and I'd put The Goodbye Girl nearly as bad, although it had the advantage of a better book by Neil Simon.  The book for Moulin Rouge is a joke.

After lunch at a 400 year old restaurant we had a lovely drive into the country as they wanted us to see the place they rented with friends for the week. It was at the end of a quiet, narrow country road with beautiful views.

I agree on Once. Never wanted to see The Goodbye Girl. The cast album was mediocre to the point of being lousy.

I enjoyed the notes today.  I really don't like the movie to musical trend.....especially the Disney versions of their cartoons....

Otherwise I think Footloose is one of the worst movies to musicals....

The only one that I sort of like is The Wedding Singer....otherwise....no.

I really liked The Wedding Singer when it was done here in Olympia.  I knew people in the cast, so that helped.

I've never seen any of these, but I loved the Once cast album, and I really like the original Broadway cast recording to The Goodbye Girl.  I cannot stand the London cast recording where they cut all but one and a half songs and rewrote the score with a different lyricist.  BAD MISTAKE!  I really don't have any interest in seeing or hearing Moulin Rouge.

B.K.

Forgive me, but as worded, your question of the day is a bit unclear.

Are you talking about movies that were produced in the 1980s and 1990s that later became musicals?

Or, any musical (adapted from a film) that was produced in that time period?

Not sure if they fit into your time period, but the only two musicals that I can think of that were based on previously produced films are CHICAGO and THE PRODUCERS.

Of course, ROXIE HART (CHICAGO) was, I believe, produced back i the late 1930s or early 1940s, so I don't know if that would count.

No, they don't count.  The trend is adapting movies from the 1980s and 1990s and now the 2000s - that's all they're doing.
