I knew that was Denise Nicckerson. Just didn't get on soon enough. Also was in Dark Shadows, The musical of Lolita in Boston and was in in Zero to Sixty where she was "introduced". This was actually her last film after appearing in Willy Wonka. Smile, The Neon Ceiling, Search For Tomorrow etc. I asked Darren McGavin who was visiting my film school in Montreal about why she was credited like that after being around for awhile. He said that she was hoping that the movie would help her start work as an adult. The film bomb and she gave up acting.

The jury hung on one count of Solicitation to Commit Murder, so they could retry him on that count. Haven't heard if they will or not.

Nevermind, the judge dismissed the last count. He is free and clear

Report: Jewish Extremists Plan to Seize Temple MountWednesday, March 16, 2005

JERUSALEM  — Jewish extremists plan to take over a hotly disputed holy site in the Old City of Jerusalem in an attempt to sabotage Israel's planned withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and part of the West Bank in the summer, an Israeli TV station reported Wednesday.
Channel Two TV showed video of a meeting of extremists, including rabbis, where they discussed flooding the site — known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary— with Jews, drawing the army and police, apparently to prevent them from evacuating settlers from Gaza and the northern West Bank.

The report said such a move might ignite violence throughout the Middle East. The site is the most hotly contested in the region — where the Al Aqsa Mosque, marking the site where the Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven, is built atop the ruins of the biblical Jewish Temples.

"We must bring 100,000 people to the Temple Mount," said a rabbi identified as Chen Eliahu in video of the meeting, which Channel Two said took place in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. Then, he said, the army and police would be forced to abandon plans to remove settlers from Gaza and the West Bank in order to send soldiers and police to the holy site.

Police have warned of attempts to attack the Jerusalem site as a way of sabotaging the pullout, including the possibility of extremists firing a rocket at the mosque, which is clearly visible from the Jewish Quarter of the Old City.

My question for Ask BK Day:

Are we going to have live chats again?

DRs DerBrucer and SWoody: I am glad you live across the country from me, because you have the cutest pups and I'm afraid I'd take one. I might have taken Coco or CiCi. I had a puppy many years ago -- he died in three days from distemper, so I always got adults after that. For now I am content to borrow DR Kerry's Sugar.

Happy Birthday to BK's Jennifer.

And congratulations to Anthony.

And good vibes to Ann.

DR Danise, how is mom?

Didn't Denise Nickerson ultimately play Lolita in the musical of Lolita?  I think so.

Rodzinski, if I really want to see a film that's important for me to see, I'll see it however I have to.

Very frustrating business - my NY assistant Jonathan is supposed to be helping with Friday, but, after one e-mail exchange, he hasn't responded to any other e-mails, which means dear stupid inept AOL is most likely delivering all my e-mails into his spam folder.   I left a message on his cell, which turned out not to be his number anymore - so, I have no way of getting ahold of him.  I called the house where his folks live, but the man who answered (presumably his father), doesn't know his own son's cell phone or apartment number - given his rudeness, I'd say the gentleman  has some issues to work through.

Question for Larry Moore:

I was wondering why dance music in musicals are usually rearrangements of songs,

For example: The Wedding Dance in Brigadoon is Go Home With Bonnie Jean

and not originally music compositions?

Also did Gene Kelly really choreograph all the dances in Brigadoon. The deleted Sword Dance looks very much like Agnes De Mille.

DRMichael Shayne, the dance music arranger is usually on a contract that music by the composer in the show has to be used and adapted; in the case of the big ballets in ONE TOUCH OF VENUS and BRIGADOON, I believe Trude charted out the dance rhythms DeMille wanted and the composers wrote totally new music.  In MY FAIR LADY, where Trude was also helping with the underscoring, I think she's responsible for that beautiful cut section of "On the Street Where You Live" in the intro to the Act Two Covent Garden scene where Eliza learns she can't go home again.

Was anyone except Desi Arnaz Jr in that movie?  I didn't remember.

Arnaz was very good in that film, but the star was "Richard Thomas" and he was wonderful.

Richard Crenna played his father...who moved the family to New Mexico while he was off in the war.  Claire Bloom was the mother.

The movie belonged to the three juvenile leads...and I thought they were spectacular as a trio.

CharlesPogue a friend had a similar dog experience.  UPS left a package of chocolate from Switzerland on her doorstep, inside the electric fence where the dogs were.  Her very large Bernese Mountain Dog puppy ripped open the box and ate all of the chocolate.  The puppy was fine when they returned home and the vet said not all dogs get sick from it, a theory I would never test.

Good news for fans of Miyazaki movies.
“Howl's Moving Castle” is coming in the US in June.
Many stars, Billy Crystal, Lauren Bacall, Gene Simmons and more, will appear as dubbers in it.

"Dubber" is a correct word in this case?

Dear BK: Did you see any coat at TUMI shop when you got the bag? I recommend their coats, too. It’s made with same materials as their bags'. It's very light and very warm. My husband likes to wear it.  This time you’ve got a new good-deal coat so maybe next year... Tumi Tumi Tumi. ;)

Hisaka, my on-line dictionary says dubber is a word, yet my spell check says it isn’t.  If it isn’t a word I would not want to be the one to correct the charming way  you write.  :)

I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

Tumi is another store I shall have to check out-when I find one.

Goodnight for real.

"Dubber" would be the word here in Australia too Hisaka.
François has seen the new Miyazaki and was I think, a little disappointed - plot devices are recurring!

THE NEON CEILING, now there is a movie I had forgotten all about. For some reason Chicago UHF stations used to play it a lot. Lee Grant spirits her daughter, D. Nickerson, away in the night and they somehow end up living at a bar with an unpleasant Gig Young who for reasons now forgotten by me, has created a massive neon scupture on the ceiling, hence the title.

Here's a BK question for everyone else too. What is/are the best made-for-TV movies you've ever seen?

We've done best TV movies a couple of times.  All my favorites were part of the seventies ABC Movie of the Week - A Cold Night's Death, Pursuit (now on DVD),l Isn't it Shocking?, How Awful About Alan, Dr. Cook's Garden - them's were the days.

Although I have not seen it in many, many years...SUMMER GIRL starring Diane Franklin. Well, it may not be the best, but it was a lot of fun!

My vote for best would probably go to AN EARLY FROST starring Aiden Quinn and Gena Rowlands.

I listened to some of the star Akira Kubo's commentary for MATANGO: Attack of the Mushroom People...it is going to be a lot of fun! And there are some cool original Japanese trailers on the DVD as well.

Good Evening!

Back from the show...

Good show, and a very nice crowd.  A good mix of friends and family and regular ticket buyers.  ;)

DR Iris was in attendance.  And she brought Beard Papa Cream Puffs!  Vanilla and Chocolate!  They were for PennyO and myself, but since PennyO was heading out after the show with her friends and family... I shall bring you/her some tomorrow night.

I hung out for a little bit, then walked under the neon in Times Square before hopping on the A-Train back to 168th Street.  Now, I'm just enjoying some episodes of "That Family Guy" and hanging out with my "roomies".

A very good night.  And I can tell there will be many more to come.

:)

Back from reading...

DR Ben - Yes, my friend, Nick, got the call this afternoon!  He will be playing Hero.  And as it turns out, there's a guy and his girlfriend he's currently doing a show with in Connecticut - and they've been cast as one of the Proteans and a Gemini.  Small world.

And, yes, as I think I stated before, Nick does have very nice legs... And abs...  And pecs...  And he's just a really nice guy to boot too!

I promised him I would not post those pics on the internet..
