Working at the piano for a bit, recorded a tune, now am listening to the final two Dvorak symphonies. Made notes in my script - I don't like to plan too much, but I sketched out the opening two pages just to see how all that crossing would work. But I endlessly change things as I see the actors and their rhythms.

My book group will be discussing Deep River by Karl Marlantes. This historical Pacific Northwest novel is interesting but boy did it need more editing.

My favorites are veggie tacos with sour cream and guacamole and cheese enchiladas with rice and beans and sour cream and guacamole. I also like veggie burritos, but they vary greatly from restaurant to restaurant. I like the avocado burrito--beans, cheese, lettuce and guacamole.

Jane, when the fires first started several weeks ago it was surprisingly smoky here. I pulled out my air purifier and have kept it on day and night. It wasn't smoky when I went outside earlier, but I tried to talk to someone on the phone a few minutes ago and had no voice.

I knew about the Getty fire, but thought it was small and localized. I was SHOCKED to see that the evacuation area includes all of Brentwood. That's much, much too close to home. Much, of course, depends on the winds. Right now it's not smoky, but that could change quickly.

My brother has not been evacuated. I think the news has exaggerated. I am sending him an email.

While my book group discussion was interesting basically the book received a thumbs down. I was the lone person who gave it a side thumb. We were all looking forward to reading this book and all were very disappointed.

I did learn that audio books have an option to speed it up which is one person did to finish it in time.
