Luis, one of the receptionists at physical therapy, posted this shot of him and some young ladies outside the building.  I think one of them may be his wife.  The young lady next to Luis on his right is another receptionist.

You can see bits of today's outside decor.

Cool picture.  And the others, too!

Perfect timing for Halloween!

I'm pleased to announce that the audio edition of my one-woman play, YVONNE DE CARLO, is now available for audio download via audible.com, Amazon and iTunes.

Kathleen Godwin, who previously did my audios of Carole Lombard and Ida Lupino, is magnificent as the sultry actress who is probably best remembered as "Lilly Munster," but also co-starred in many Westerns, swashbucklers and, of course, Cecil B. De Mille's THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

I'm rather proud of this one.  It turned out quite well.  I know you'll enjoy it.

https://www.amazon.com/Yvonne-Carlo-One-Woman-Play-Acts/dp/B07ZS18GS6/ref=tmm_aud_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1523039502&sr=1-1

Congrats, Druxy!  I'm curious...do you have her reminiscing about her time in Follies?

Please don't MeToo me ever on this, since I mean this in the most platonic way :) - but that this was your first thought is one of the reasons that you are one of the most amazing minds in the existence of the world!  I'm very ashamed to admit it hadn't occurred to me until you said it.

If I think of Elaine Paige first as Carlotta, will they take away my gay card, whatever that is?   and whoever "they" are?

No slight against Elaine, but Yvonne will ALWAYS be the first Carlotta that I think of!

We’ve been visited by 4 - count ‘em 4 - trick or treaters.  It’s 34 degrees and very windy and I’ve even seen reports of snow flurries.  Guess I know what we’re taking to the church potluck dinner tomorrow evening...

Listening to a CD of Russian war horses conducted by the great William Steinberg on Capitol.  Great performances in great early stereo sound circa 1957-1959.  One probably never needs to hear these again, but they're done so well here...

I do hope everyone understands why I finally had to say something about the endless posting about business that has been going on for a long time and has consumed this board in recent weeks again.  I want everyone to post about anything they like, but when I start to sense people are really getting irritated then at some point I have to speak up.  So, hopefully FJL will be back but I hope when he does come back he's happier and back to his charming, jovial self.  Again, we all rant about things, but not for ten posts at a time on a daily basis.

Ok, I just wanted to be missed.  Everybody storms off, I never did.  Its fun. George gets missed when he's gone for 9 hours (you almost send a search party for George). As Babs says, I am so glad to be back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TweAJTal7Uk

Well, Halloween has been a bust so far in my 'hood. I went to the bank, then stopped for lunch. No costumes! I did see one young Asian male in a Spiderman t-shirt and a young Asian female (not together) in a skeleton t-shirt. That was it! And the two people to whom I wished a Happy Halloween were quite indifferent to it. Harraummpp!

Progress continues on the Getty fire. The Mandatory Evacuation Area is now much smaller, which is incredible progress when you consider how low the dew point is. (The dew point is the temperature at which water condenses.) Typically, our dew points are in the fifties. Today it reached 1 degree, which is the lowest I've ever seen it. Incredibly dry. I don't remember it ever being this dry.

I found out today that the AirBnB where I am staying for the first three days is owned by people who run a Mexican restaurant down the street from their house. Because I don’t know when I will get there, I’m to go to restaurant. Guess I’m having dinner there, too. Like I need to go to Chicago for Mexican food. What are the odds?

That is funny, but also rather homey and welcoming.

DR Jeanne have you ever eaten at Follow Your Heart in Canoga Park?

No, but only because Canoga Park's rather a hike from here. I'm familar with the company and their products, though.

It was rocky road ice cream though, so I'm glad I made it back safe and didn't break any fillings on the nuts.

There is or was a restaurant we went to in L.A. that was called House or The House.  And it really was a house.  And not cheap.  The food was excellent. but the selections were much more varied at the Eclectic Cafe, which we went to twice.

Jane, regarding your reference to the article about the Getty the other day, back when the last Getty fire occurred (2017?) I read an article about the precautions the Getty has taken to protect itself and its valuable collection. They've really been thorough. I'd like to see residential construction incorporate some of the ideas. Given how many multi-million-dollar houses there are here in LA you'd think some attention would be paid to fire prevention, yet I see little of that. Luxurious amenities sell; apparently, smarter construction doesn't.

Speaking of storming off.  Has anyone done the end of "A Doll House' where Nora slams the door, but then has to come back because she forgot something?

And now, I must be off.  I'm going to my sister's to be with the family.  I'm bringing some chocolate chip cookies and some peanut butter/M&M cookies, my parents are bringing pizza, and my sister will have candy! ;D

But before I go...
