I just had a strange experience. Things haven't been going well all day, but thankfully they've been minor, rather than major, problems.
I have an auto-ship order with Amazon. Among the items is a case of bottled water. Granted, it's heavy. Sometimes the delivery person brings it up to my door, other times he leaves it at the base of the stairs. Today I received an email from Amazon saying that delivery had been "attempted." Attempted? I was here, and they usually leave it anyway. Delivery was in the hands of USPS, not Amazon. Uh-oh.
I heard the mail carrier this afternoon and asked her if she knew anything about my package. She said she couldn't deliver it because it was too heavy and that I needed to take this slip she just put in my mailbox and go to the PO and pick it up. I explained that I can't do that. She said, "Don't you have a male who can do it?" (I find that quite funny, actually.) I said I'd call Amazon. She didn't see any point in that.
I spoke to Amazon. The rep understood my point: Amazon is supposed to deliver my order. He then called the USPS, where a very polite, but VERY slow man took my information (repeatedly) for 33 minutes. I am told the package will be delivered tomorrow. We'll see.
