I think I have physical therapy this morning at 9:00.  I need to call the office at 8:00 and verify that my referral came through.

When I get home - if I go - I will work a bit on the Babes In Toyland notes and do a bit on this choral arrangement.

As soon as I get off the bus from therapy, I will vote since the poll is next to the bus stop.

TheTOD question ew "Today’s topic of discussion: What are the new PC things that you absolutely loathe and think are completely ridiculous?" -

The issue of needing to say "they" rather than"'he" or "she" -  is one I have recently gotten used to.

Thatch enjoyed his 2-year festivities and  Annabelle gasps and wheezes like Camille this morning.  Stella is quiet as the Sphinx as she demolishes the apartment.

HR PUFNSTUF's "Pronouns" sings may need an update, though.

Everybody on Pufnstuf's island being such gifted song and dance people makes as much sense, I guess, as the castaways on Gilligan's Island doing "Hamlet" to music from "Carmen."

Or as much sense as Lucy standing totally still and everyone mistaking her for a coat rack.

they somehow get all in a tizzy when you point out shows from 30years earlier in that  TV comedy golden age (or whatever they call it0 where Ethel Merman just goes along with it when Lucu teaches her how to sing are not exactly documentaries. in terms of being "real"

But it is nicer that Ethel took time to do school shows for fans!

Lucy Carmichael teaches Ethel Merman to sing like Ethel Merman

Vivian Vance is playing to the back row of Radio City Music Hall in that clip.  :)

Actually, the real Ethel Merman really did volunteer one day a week at St. Luke's Roosevelt, mostly in the gift shop, for a long time.

Overheard:  When Kristin Chenoweth names her show "For the girls" - is there a subtle wink to her gay fan base?

The answer was it's about as subtle as getting hit by a truck.  It says it, doesn't imply it.

My company has used they in a singular sense longer than I’ve been there (9+ years). It took some getting used to. It’s second nature now, but I still look first to see if I can use a plural construction or second person.

The reason was because “he or she” was cumbersome and “he/she” wasn’t conversational.

Just saw a video of a hideous production of The Man Who Came To Dinner where they had the role of Beverly Carleton was played by a woman. Did they not know that Beverley was a man?
