Hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you for the birthday wishes~
I am tuckered out after a LONG day cleaning, cooking, awaiting dear daughter arrival, the feast,  and cleaning up afterwards.  But a fine meal was eaten.  I'm barely keeping my eyes open.... will be back on BK's next post..

TOD - there have, of course, been many wonderful traditional Thanksgivings with family and friends, but my most unique year was 1977.  My friend Rebecca and l, both still single, flew to NYC early Wednesday morning and stayed until Sunday evening.  We went to the Macy’s parade and had Thanksgiving dinner at Mamma Leone’s.  Over the 5 days we saw a movie/stage show at Radio City and on Broadway:

I Love My Wife
Side by Side by Sondheim
A Chorus Line
For Colored Girls...
The Wiz

That's so cool, Ginny!  I would've loved to have seen all of those!

George I never had much success with water in the oven with the cake and just tolerate cracks in the cake.

My sour cream topping is added during the baking  process.

I wondered about the water bath.  A couple of recipes said just that (it's not specifically needed), so I won't do that again.

I only had a cookie sheet with sides that go up about an inch, so there's NO way that I was going to attempt to remove it when it was still hot.  It's actually still in my oven.  I'll deal with it tomorrow.

I will have to think about the TOD....nothing is coming to me.

BUT - I will tell MY story about back when I was directing THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER in 1986.

As MR BK has written, at the end of Act Two, THE MAN is doing a radio show that includes a boys choir - that just adds to the hilarious chaos.

We had six boys who were doing a fine job.  One evening after notes, I asked if anyone had any questions.  One of the boys raised his hand and I called on him.  He said: "I won't be able to do the show because we are going on vacation that week."

I said:  "Uh....okay. Well then you don't have to come to any more rehearsals."

And he said: "Oh, I can come to all the rehearsals, I just can't do the show."

And I said:  "That's okay.  You don't have to come to anymore rehearsals.  If your mom has any questions, have her call me."

I think he still came to a couple of rehearsals before he disappeared.

That is funny.  I guess he was enjoying the rehearsals.

I actually tend to enjoy the rehearsals more than the actual performances. ::)

That's as good as this Marx Brothers scene from "Animal Crackers."
(book by George S. Kaufman and Morrie Ryskind.)

Captain Spaulding: What do you fellows get an hour?

Ravelli: Oh, for playing we getta ten dollars an hour.

Spaulding: I see...What do you get for not playing?

Ravelli: Twelve dollars an hour.

Spaulding: Well, clip me off a piece of that.

Ravelli: Now, for rehearsing we make special rate. Thatsa fifteen dollars an hour.

Spaulding: That's for rehearsing?

Ravelli: Thatsa for rehearsing.

Spaulding: And what do you get for not rehearsing?

Ravelli: You couldn't afford it

DR Vixmom it is too late now but record the Macy's Thanksgiving parade on NBC. CBS's coverage is a joke. They have no musical numbers at the beginning, no rockettes, no singing on the floats.

I only watch the CBS broadcast for the few musical numbers that they do have.

The raspberry peach pie never was cut so mySIL sent it back with us

My niece got a small whole pumpkin pie from her grandmother's next door because none of them wanted it.  A couple of slices were consumed at our dinner.

Actually, it was very nice.  Your favorite musical director was there.   This fellow, was music director for the Jason Robert Brown musical.
