Well, I think Stella's got only about three lives left.  This morning as I prepared the kitty cleanup in the kitchen I heard a thud, followed by my iTunes shutting down at about the 10th-20th bar of a Bach Advent cantata I had just begun.

I came into the living area to find everything connected to the power cable - including the computer, printer, and work light - were dead.  Sure enough, Stella's climbing had sent a book of music over the back of a filing cabinet and the fall had dislodged the power cable's plug from the wall socket.

I looked about: Thatch was in the cat tree, Annabelle was sleeping on the chair by my work table, and Stella was casually walking from behind the book cases next to the computer and ready to play.  I called her some choice words, and went off to do kitty cleanup,  I needed to calm down before moving all the crap I needed to move to reach the wall socket behind the filing cabinet.

Kitty cleanup accomplished, I got the dustbuster, a flashlight, and repaired the damage.  Stella of course wanted to help.  I suggested she run for her life.

I have no idea what the remainder of the day will entail.  I do have to deal with the roaches, so that's a priority project.  After that. who knows?

When a baby celebrates his first birthday, he starts his second year.

I refuse to believe this.

But it's true, BK!

Before the 2016 election, what's really true mattered.  In the alternative facts era, truth is whatever you can make anyone believe.  :)

Happy birthday again, BK!

Jane, I'm sorry to have not been here on your birthday, but hoping it's a full birthday week!

Last night we all watched the 2013(?) PBS broadcast of the New York City Ballet's production of The Nutcracker, which remains my favorite staging of the ballet.  Balanchine is a genius choreographer who really uses the music in his steps and whose handling and direction of the parents and children in the Act One party verges on pure genius.  When the piece was first staged in 1954, Balanchine asked Jerome Robbins for help, and Robbins staged the battle between the mice and the toys, which is very funny, and which reminds me of his work on Mary Martin's Peter Pan.

This is highly unusual, but we escaped Second Night Syndrome on this show. The preview had reached such heights that I’d be tempted to identify our official opening night as Second Night, but it really wasn’t. And last night the jernt was firing on all cylinders. It was a Saturday Blessing.

I’ll be concerned about Second Weekend Syndrome. That Second Friday can be deadly, but at this theater we’ll at least have had our First Thursday Brush-Up which is a “pay what you want” performance. So there’s that.

I'm debating going back to bed.  The Tizanidine has kicked in and I can barely keep my eyes open.

Magdalena is another one who leaves disaster in her wake. Leonard as a kitten wasn't bad at all. He still runs around sometimes like a devil is chasing him, but he doesn't create disaster.

Well, I did lie down with Annabelle for a bit and dozed to my favorite Christmas album, a collection of John Rutter songs and arrangements.  My second favorite album just might be Joan Baez.

Wasn't it in some sitcom, two women on the phone.

I'm trying to decide whether to go back to bed.
Well, that depends, dear.  Is anyone there with you?

(Sounds vaguely like Sue Ann Nivens, or maybe a Carol Burnett Show soap opera sketch, but it's not showing up on google.)

All the talk of Articles of Impeachment reminds me of my friend Leslie's office when she was a magazine editor.

There was a (joking) sign that said:  Not responsible for articles left overnight.
