It's pretty clear why many people are doing their own returns.

"If you (or someone you know) will be reporting income of $69,000 or less on your 2019 personal income tax return, you may be able to electronically prepare and file your income tax returns for free."

This approach uses tax software available on the IRS website, I presume.

I've noticed a number of accountants now give you a quote before you ask them to do your return. A plus for clients and does rather keep accountants in check.

"I'd rather have 14.5% of him, the all of anybody else..."

Hmm, that needs some work.

They sucked me into the new filter scam..

Oh, that's scam, not scan.

That sounded like it could be fun at first, but I guess not.

CPAs can't fight with free.  People who just have social security, pension, and a lot of interest income are realizing they can do their returns themselves, now that for any people who don't have a business, deductions are irrelevant.  Deductions tended to be where CPAs came in most handy, and when there are no deductions in a 1040, there's usually no IRS audit exposure.

I didn't know that about the audits.

I use Eckrich Hot Dogs......I also like Oscar Meyer dogs because they come in two five-paks instead of 10 all in one pak.

With a name like Eckrich, it has to be good.

That another almost-there, but needs work.

Jeanne -  It's just that deductions are usually the target for audits for people with 1040s.  Unless someone gets income  that the payer doesn't report to the IRS, the income is really all on the 1099s and W-2s.

I've been doing my taxes online for quite a few years, but I didn't realize that last year the 1040EZ was no longer an option!  I was actually doing them late (I figure that since I get a refund, I wouldn't get a fine...and I didn't) and that's when I saw that the EZ option was no more. :P It was still fairly easy to do it all, but it was a bit of a shock.

Whenever I see or hear someone refer to themselves in a public forum about what a good "christian" they are, usually while bilking someone else, I'll think of this good Christian woman!

Wow! She really takes the cake! I'm impressed that her victims took her assault so well. I only watched the first few minutes. That was all I could take! Was she removed from the store?

It is sad.  There is obviously something wrong with her.

Yes, I was thinking about unreported income, which I was told is a more serious problem than incorrect deductions.

Yes, the 1099s and W-2s make it pretty straightforward.

Earn less, pay less tax.  :)

I've got a stone or three still in there that need to be pulverized or passed, though.  I went on a new insurance plan as of January 1, so I have to get a whole new set of referrals to different specialists.

All the talk on the innernet of the SAG awards reunion made me bring back the "Hollywood Gown" series that stopped in 2013.

The HOLLYWOOD GOWN SONG - SAG AWARDS 2020
- feat. Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston's gown

and of course, I had to pair it with the "Angelina Jolie's Leg" 2012 Oscars special edition feat. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's leg

Thanks.  The primary care doctor's office has usually been good about who they pick, but there will be new specialists just because of which plans the specialist are on.

Yes, I second that.

And speaking of a shock - "Hollywood Gown" is to the tune of Harriet Schock's "Hollywood Town" song from Manfred Mann Earth Band's "Angel Station" album.

BK and I had lunch with Harriet (and IIRC Joe Kolinski too) when I was in L.A. - the trip where BK and I went to see Michelle Pawk starring in "Los Otros" at the Mark Taper Forum.

I'm hoping the new plan will cover the pulverization route, which sounds horrible, but apparently make the stones tinier.   They said the goal is that I don't have to go through what my dad had to do -  but who can argue with 99 and still singing?  No way I'll get near there, I think.

Although even during the Christmas carols when we were together holiday week in Florida, Dad's singing still sounded very Jewish, even when the lyrics were about Santa.  Though even the Christmas songs WERE mostly by Jewish songwriters.

It still holds up.  the song, not the bikini.
