Thinking about food but not ready to commit.  Grant was supposed to come over and get this tripod ring light thing set up, but it's almost six so maybe another day.

Finishing up this Shavian disc. Tonight's feature is You Never Can Tell. I don't know it.

Just saw that Shirley Knight died in San Marcos, which is about halfway between Druxy and me.

I read that just before coming here. :(

TOD:

Lask week was Pasta Week, which is now morphing into Pasta Month, I think. I used to love pasta and prepare it frequently, but gave it up due to allergies. I'm now trying several different kinds of gluten-free pasta, all of which have been quite good. I ordered some pesto, which could make an interesting change. I'm also thinking about trying to make a vegan alfredo sauce. John G or Jane, if you (or anyone) has a recipe I'd like to take a look.

I have never eaten a vegan alfredo sauce.  I don't make it anymore and only have it at a restaurant on the rare occasion, just too unhealthy.  A am very curious what you come up with.

I would suggest you google and read around. There are a great many vegan alfredo sauces out there. The one you choose will likely depend on what's in your pantry and what your tastes are beforehand.

I, on the other hand, am making a frozen pizza.  First time ever using the oven in this house - hope it comes out okay.  This brand gets rave reviews - Red Baron - so I'm very interested in how it will taste.  If not good, I move directly to the Marie Callendar's.

First pizza attempt, disaster - burned.  I lost track of time.  Second try, with a brick oven crust - success.

Tonight was Taco Bell tacos, I kid you not. First time in several years. Honestly, I think their basic tacos are the best thing and the best deal there.

My favorite is having a burrito supreme, minus tomatoes plus extra sour cream and a crunchy taco supreme (same instructions)

But I am currently not eating food cooked elsewhere.

The burrito supreme was my mainstay in my first Taco Bell days back in the late 70s, early 80s.

I even remember my first Taco Bell location. It was either West Third St. or Beverly Blvd., east of La Cienega. I’m leaning toward W. Third, but I should just look it up.

Mine was the old mission-style building, with the concrete tables and benches out front.

Back in the early to mid-2000s (I think) they used to have a Big Beef Burrito Supreme.  That was my go-to at Taco Bell.  Now, you can get a Burrito Supreme with extra meat, but I actually haven't ever gotten that.  I don't know why.

I put on my gloves and mask and went to the post office to purchase some stamps.....only one person ahead of me....a woman my age with NO mask or gloves.....and one person behind me - ibid....

Then I traveled down - well around since the town square is still closed because of the tornado damage two weeks ago - to the Pet Supplies Plus store......

I like to get Conrad Birdie Barnum's seed there because I can buy two kinds of seed in bulk and mix them for him....

No one else in mask.....but the clerk did have on gloves.....

Has anyone ordered stamps online?  I have considered doing that though the time we went into the post office it was basically empty.

I do Stamps.com. It's metered rate so it's less than the post office, but you do have to pay a monthly feel   I mail a fair amount for my work so it's worth it.

Listening to a wonderful album I found on YouTube - Nelson Riddle conducts the songs of Nat King Cole - great Riddle orchestrations and that great Capitol sound.  Of course, never on CD but whoever did the transfer did a good job.

Vixmom,in response to your question yesterday, I bought a Nikon Coolpix P1000.  It only has the one lens and it isn't interchangeable.  I think they call it a mirrorless digital camera. There are lots of videos online about it's capabilities. It's really just a mind blowing zoom camera.   I use my phone for photos of friends and family. This is for doing my photography that I've sort of pushed aside for a number of years.  It's something my dad and I shared before his Alz got bad.  We'd go for drives just to shoot photos.  I miss that, but I can do it again.

I know you've seen the photos on Facebook.   I have a friend who has been taking incredible photos for the past couple years and I asked him how he got shots of the moon so clear you can see the craters etc and he said this camera was his secret and he was totally in love with it.   All I can say is me too!

I hadn't either.  I think Stamps.com costs something like 17.00 per month, I can't remember exactly.  All I know is that with the discount and not having to go to the post office it's worth it.  It even comes with a free digital scale that goes into your computer so you just weigh the envelope and print it out on your printer and mail it

I have really been brain dead the past couple days.  I think it's a little delayed grief.  I came home the same day as Dad's funeral after being with mom for a week. So that was March 18, I moved my office home that day and dove right in on the briefs, motions etc that had been piling up.  I can think of maybe one Sunday I didn't work at all since then. I tried to take today off completely, but the phone was ringing at 8:30 am and I had to deal with some things.

But I'm not complaining, I'm happy to have work, I'm just mentally exhausted.  Getting the camera has been a big thing, as it was a hobby my dad and I shared so there has been a lot of emotion coming up.  I went out last night and shot photos of the great blue herons and went to the river and shot some photos done there.  Today I went back into the Loess Hills.  I was looking for the bison but they are in a preserve and weren't anywhere near the accessible areas today. Tomorrow I have to go right back at it as I have another appeal brief due Tuesday  and another brief due the week after. I still have a lot to do after that, but nothing as time consuming, so I'm hoping to take at least a few days off
