Last night I has almost fallen asleep when I felt a swoosh across the back of my head.  I jumped about 4 feet flipped on the light and looked everywhere for a bat.  No bats....downstairs..... no bats.... basement....no bats.... Boo was following me and sort of chewing me out, liked she does sometimes.  Doesn't want anything just does her I'm angry meow.   I realized Ricky wasn't with us.   So I went back upstairs and he was hiding under the futon in the upstairs den....then I knew.  It was his tail!  It swooshed the back of my head. I talked him out of his hiding space and Boo quit chewing me out.  I was relieved but wide awake.   Didn't sleep well the rest of the night

Great story.  I wonder what spooked him.

Hardcover looks great, but I cannot get my gal who does the book orders to respond.  Sometimes she's great about responding quickly and sometimes she's not.  I have to do it through her because she knows the right printing plant to send it to and gives me nice discounts.

Books are ordered!  She gave me a great deal, which was VERY helpful, especially in cutting the shipping charge in half.  The one thing she couldn't do, which she normally does, is put it in as a "rush" order because the good printing house is not accepting rush orders now.  So, seven to ten days they'll be here.

I saw a 70mm print at the Walter Reade several years ago, before the new set had come out. It was actually a disappointment -- theater and screen not large enough to make a difference (or so it seemed to me), and the print was probably nothing to write home about. So I didn't. It also had that weird aspect ratio anomaly at the top of the film that was on the old Criterion. I never did figure that out. It was masked or something in the main titles. I forget now.

Totally enjoyable seeing it on a "fairly" large screen once I settled into it, but nowhere near as striking as I'd hoped.

Good news on those books!

BK, is this the longest it's taken to get a book out? There were all kinds of reasons for that this time, of course, but I wondered if any others were this long in production.

Our (insert derogatory term) governor has decided we’re open for business on May 1. That includes libraries, movie theaters, restaurants, etc.

Thank you for the Sondheim link. I clicked on a couple of the links someone posted last night, but they said the video was gone.

I can't imagine how difficult it must be for the musicians to play by themselves in a room. I guess that's what makes a professional.

Monday afternoon greetings!  We picked up groceries today because I messed up my ordering and neglected to indicate that I wanted a Tuesday or Wednesday slot.  Oh, well.

Well we're up to 611 now and across the river is 608 so 1219 cases and rising in an area of 120.000 people and our governor opens up all the counties around us an says, "oh people will be responsible and not go from a closed county to an open county"  She must be dumber than a post to believe that. Well, I've always thought she was dumber than a post, but please.

Our governor was asked about a “regionalized” approach today and he had a much more coherent and rational answer.  He also is rolling out a very gradual reopening that’s not going to make some people very happy, but we’re fine with it.

Update to our conversation about ordering stamps:  mine arrived today.  It took almost 2 weeks to get them, so don’t wait until the last minute if you need stamps!

My brother just messaged me.  Apparently mom fell sometime either last night or this morning. Her caretaker had an emergency so my brother went over this afternoon to check on mom and after they talked a bit she said "I wonder how I got this scar on the back of my head"  He said the back of her head was covered in dried blood.   They are at the emergency room.  Good thing no virus in their county!   Anyway, so far the word is it wasn't a stroke and her heart is ok, that's good.  They are doing all sorts of tests and my brother is texting me as the results come in.   She's been REALLY confused lately.  I wish they would just admit her for observation tonight.  She has good insurance

The mayors of the 4 or 5 communities that make our "metro" area put out a statement today asking for more transparency in the numbers.  No one is saying where the outbreak is centered, if it's in a business, if the employees of any business impacted are being notified or if there is any plan to mitigate the outbreak  nothing.  So there is nothing the local leaders or any of us can do.  It's very frustrating

Oh on the balancing bad news with good news, they found a good home for Chloe the cat.   She's a scaredy cat like my Petey was.  There was a lot of concern about her integrating into the house. Geri has a friend who lives alone and is retired and is very excited about adopting Chloe.  She can be there all the time for Chloe, which is what she is used to. They will be making the drive to her new home tomorrow.  Very happy about this.   I was feeling really guilty when I saw the video of her at the shelter, and I almost caved and adopted her.  Glad I waited
