I've only rehearsed with the band so far.  But none of them knew the Shirley MacLaine story (do I feel old?  Yes, I do).

The first trumpeter just got accepted to both Tanglewood and Interlochen.  As a pianist.  (Do I feel woefully mono-instrument?  Yes I do).

I just discovered the song The Waters of March and I am quite addicted to it.

A mile, a must, a thrust, a bump,
It's a girl, it's a rhyme, it's a cold, it's the mumps

The plan of the house, the body in bed
And the car that got stuck,
it's the mud, it's the mud

A float, a drift, a flight, a wing
A hawk, a quail, the promise of spring

And the river bank talks of the waters of March
It's the promise of life,
it's the joy in your heart...

I never heard this before,,who sings it? What's it from?

Waters of March has been recorded by hundreds of people, but I recommend the two Sergio Mendes versions in English (his first, available on the import CD Vintage '74 has an amazing Dave Grusin orchestration).  For Portuguese, you must get Jobim's own authoritative version, available on the CD Matita Pere, which was released in America on MCA as Jobim.  Both the original Brasilian and US licensed versions are available on CD.

But maybe you'll get a CDR of some versions with some other CDs that will be mailed to you next week.  ;)

CUMIN!!

Now... Do you pronounce it "cue-min" or more like "come-in"?  Steve's father would always say "come-in", and then all of us would start giggling.  Immature - yes!

In P.D.Q. Bach's "The Seasonings" (S. 1½ Tsp.), it's pronounced "come-in"...as in "I'm comin'." ;)

Ginny- Thanks, I appreciate that. Others as well.

Rodzinski, I'm very sorry about the loss of your friend.  You may remember me talking about a couple of friends of mine who died in February, also from carbon monoxide poisoning.  It's all so very sad.

Hello, DR TD. How are you?

I'm physically and emotionally exhausted, DR Hisaka.  How are you?
Been quite an eventful week, but there is a beginning of normalcy approaching.

Good morning!

Well, since I didn't end up falling asleep until around 4:30 - or was it even 5:30 by that time somewhere...  But I did wake up before Noon!  11:45!!

;)

I was actually hoping to wake up to a gray and rainy sky which would have given me an "excuse" to stay inside today, but, alas, the rain and storms aren't supposed to start until later in the afternoon.  So, maybe I will head out for a while - with umbrella in hand.  We shall see.

DR Joey - Sorry about the "No-Place" comment.  But, remember, it was a stagehand who said it, not me.  I'll be sure to point him out to you on Sunday so you can give him a piece of your mind!

;)

Thanks for the trail suggestions.  I did see the trail that runs along Westfield Blvd. yesterday - we took a "detour" to the theatre in order to do some exploring.  I hadn't hear of the Monon Trail, but since I'm right off of 86th Street...

As for places to eat, I did pass some cool little places in the Broad Ripple area as well as on College Ave.  I still need to finish off my Maggiano's from the other night, so.. Hopefully, this weekend.  *I can also tell my body is still recovering from the indulgences I took in Memphis, so...  We shall see.

The old Sara Lee commercials where things are going wrong for people but they cheer up with a Sara Lee dessert, while the jingle would play: "Everybody doesn't like something, but nobody doesn't like Sara Lee!!"

Up until...maybe three or four years ago, I thought that the line was "Nobody does it like Sara Lee," you know, like the James Bond song, "Nobody does it better." ::) I'd just never seen the words printed out anywhere until a few years ago. :)

I love really bad cheesey commercials. The cheesier the better. There's a local one here for Action Jack's furniture with a guy in drag in this really crazy outfit. His/Her name is "Big Beulah," and s/he is doing that karate move where you chop a board in half. At the end, s/he tries to chop a cinderblock brick and hurts his/her hand. I don't know what that has to do with furniture, but I love it.

Action Jack's Furniture store, by the way, is run out of a storage unit.

I also love the commercials for Sonic with those two guys in the car. I especially like the one where the one guy is counting carbs. And the one where the other one has stopped eating vitamin E.

And I know I've mentioned this before, but my favorite infomercial is a local one for Earnhardt's used cars. It's called "Credit Court" and it's supposed to be one of those court TV shows. My favorite character is Trixie, Dead-Beat Dad's girlfriend he met at the trailer park.

Rodzinski I’m sorry about your friend.   I have a few childhood life lessons and certain people will stay with me forever because of them.  After reading your story I realize what a good thing those lessons were.

When I was in fourth grade a very good friend moved away and I never kept in touch.  We didn’t exchange phone numbers or addresses and she only moved 2 hours away.  A couple of years ago we re-connected and had lunch together.  I told her how much that affected me.  As a parent who kept moving her children I worked very hard to not let that happen to them.  We even took trips back to our previous homes to visit their friends.  It meant a lot to her to know that.  Seems the move had also been traumatic for her and it was nice to know how much she had been missed.  We still keep in touch.

Jose, on December 23rd 2003 you were not even at 500 (God status) posts (you mention that in your post) and now here you are at 5,126 or however many you will have when you read this. How do I know? I am s l o w l y reading posts from the Christmas of 2003 when Anthony and I were in London. I am almost done now. I just have 6 more days to read and then I will have caught up. Amazing!
