Returning after much errancy and truancy:
CD: A copy of Veronica Nunn's "American Lullaby," burned for me by the subway booth clerk at the station near my home.
As a native New Yorker, I naturally have a "smile and wave" relationship with a bunch of strangers who I see on a daily basis. Anyhow, this clerk's been on my daily "good morning" list probably for a year or more. One day, I walk by, and stop dead in my tracks, hearing a jazzy rendition of "Not While I'm Around" emanating from the booth. Seeing my reaction, the clerk showed me the CD, and we struck up a quick conversation. She wasn't at all familiar with
Sweeney Todd, so I loaned her my copy of the original cast (yes, I warned her that the two
Sweeney songs that Nunn sings [she also sings "Green Finch and Linnet Bird"] are not quite representative of the score).
No DVD/VHS stuff for the past few weeks: work, school, and taxes have been kinda keeping us busy...
