Carl Reiner has died.

 :( :( :(

I thought he was going to live to be 100.  He was twitting & mentally active which was a blessing.

Bruce you might look to see if there is a See's Candy near you offering curbside pick up.  I think it would be less than shipping.

All along I have looked at ordering See's online.  I would have to buy way too much to get free shipping and not enough to justify my paying for shipping.

My neighbor did get me some Baskin Robbins chocolate ice cream yesterday from the mall.  See's there is still closed.

Bruce might recall I like my ice cream rather on the soupy side.  This arrived too soft and warm for me to eat at first.  Last night I had some and it was good, but still incredibly on the soft side.  I haven't checked today to see how much refreezing it affected the taste & texture.

I'm up, I'm up - four hours of sleep, but I'll probably go back to bed for another couple of hours.

First coat of paint is on. Had a lot of dark, ugly brown to cover up.

What a long and amazing life Carl Reiner had.  The few times I met him he was really wonderful.  I did a quick role on his series Good Heavens.  He and Mel came to the opening of What If, both loved it, and both gave us quotes for our ads, which made us an instant sellout.

Lang Lang
Jerry Lee Lewis
Elton John
Billy Joel
Oscar Peterson
Dave Brubeck
Art Tatum
Ray Charles
Glenn Gould

I would have loved to have heard Clara Schumann, Chopin and Liszt.

Nice story and a nice gesture on their part.

Here's Mel and Carl, graciously giving autographs just before entering the Hudson Theater to see our show.

There isn't a See's Candy near me. :-\

Back from my weekly shopping trip. Actually, it's been more like ten days since the last, but never mind that. On the way home my car beeped at me because it's finally time for a fill-up. Which I'll do next time I go out. Sadly, I missed getting a second super-low-cost tank of fuel. The best price locally is now $1.98, up from the pandemic $1.65.

Oh well. I know I shouldn't complain about this in front of BK.  :)

Got another ninety minutes of sleep.  I could not face making anything here after the food debacle of yesterday, so I advance ordered from Hugo's via Postmates (free delivery today) - I have to say it was about six bucks cheaper than DoorDash ever was.  Glad to be done with DoorDash, actually.

Food arrived right at the requested time and has been eaten.  They forgot the cheese for the pasta papa (always included on the side) but it was still good and filling.

Just had fun with this mystery thing.  It should all be done in the next couple of weeks and then I can talk about it.  Meanwhile, I'm starting to put asks out for the August Kritzerland.

My latest pandemic novel is Severance by Ling Ma. It's kind of like a satirical zombie romance novel. And I'm enjoying it.

The cats have their night-time treat, and I'm ready to close shop for the night.  We'll return to the story of Lily Langtry after our Agatha Christie break.
