My mom called while I was at my parents' house, and my sister and her boyfriend were there, too.

We got to chat with her a bit, but they haven't gotten the results from the CT scan and the MRI yet, so they don't know what's going on.

A couple of weeks ago, my sister and I sent care packages to our aunts (my dad's two sisters) in California.

Coincidentally while everyone was at my parents' house tonight, my aunt Sister Cecelia (the nun) called there to find out my sister's phone number to thank us for the care package.

Listening to the superb Zino Francescatti do various violin concertos - we've already had the Mendelssohn (now my favorite version of it), Tchaikovsky, Bruch, and finishing up Lalo, then the last is Sibelius.  Doesn't hurt to have conductors like Szell, Schippers, Mitropoulos, and Bernstein.

Most of the time has been spent thinking about my days managing shoe storeS in California,
Oregon, and Washington.  Not exactly exciting memories, but that was what was on the bill for this morning.

Did you begin doing that in California and work your way back home?

No, I started in Tacoma.  Then I transferred to Portland as the Asst. Manager.  I took a few months off, so my friend Tim and I could move to Laguna Beach.  When that didn’t work, I came back to Tacoma, then transferred to downtown Seattle, and finally to our southcenter store, which was one of the nicest stores.

Hardy Shoes!  A lot of memories.

The unofficial company slogan (known only to employees and friends) was:

Every woman loves a man with a Hardy on!

Wait a minute!  That was wrong.  When I came back from Laguna Beach, I went back to Tacoma as a salesman.  Right away, I was promoted to manager of our store in Santa Rosa.  After that, I moved back to Tacoma, then downtown Seattle and finally Southcenter.
