Back from picking up the important envelope - whew!  Ordered pasta papa for the meal o' the day (about 800 calories, if that), and am listening to Janet Baker sing a piece of Mahler's - she's really good.

Leonard climbed into my lap during the video call, and he ran and got his "mingming" too.

Had a few peanuts to bring the calorie count closer to 1000.  I actually found a calorie count for pasta papa and it's even lower than I thought at 640.  Makes sense, though - about three or four ounces of pasta, maybe two eggs, a couple of pieces of bacon shredded into bits, turkey sausage (not much) and not cooked in butter or anything, just a tiny bit of oil.  And yet, filling and wonderful.

I'm halfway through the 1951 Toscanini Verdi Requiem - it seems like a fine performance but hard to get past the sound, I'm afraid.  Can't wait to hear the Ormandy and I also found the Reiner, which is supposed to be great, as well as the Leinsdorf - both under four bucks.  Everyone raves about the 1964 Giulini but I've never liked his recordings and when I read "except for all the distortion" well, don't even care to try it.  None of the later conductors interest me much.
