Was reading a cookbook from the 1920s yesterday and came across some atrocious variations of deviled eggs, or stuffed eggs, as they called them. Mash the yolks with your choice of ground sausage, sardines in mustard sauce or catsup (aka ketchup). Then do what? Serve them to the enemy? Hand them out on Halloween as tricks?

*Taking notes for this year's holiday treat*

Hahahaha!

Wow. It got humid again today. It's only around 81, but feels quite a bit warmer.

I'm not complaining. I wasn't going to do anything outdoors for another day or two.

Last night around 6:00 I had a fall that could have been serious, but I was very lucky.  I sat down on the edge of the bathtub to refill the cats' water bowl in the bathroom.  I sat back too far and fell into the bathtub.  It could have been serious if my head had struck the faucet or the side of the tub against the wall.  Instead I landed on my left elbow and hip, missing the faucet.

Yikes! :o So glad you landed the way you did!

So...let's see what's on during French Week, shall we?

Tuesday, September 8 - Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette (2017)
Wednesday, September 9 - Berlioz’s La Damnation de Faust (2008)
Thursday, September 10 - Massenet’s Cendrillon (2018)
Friday, September 11 - Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles (2016)
Saturday, September 12 - Berlioz’s Les Troyens (2013)
Sunday, September 13 - Massenet’s Werther (2014)

I love that staging of Damnation, but it's one of their earlier "Live in HD" presentations, and I kept wishing they'd cut to the rear camera to give us the audience perspective more than they did. I think it's important not to lose sight of that in any such televised production.

Well, we get to go home!  Evidently, a transformer exploded nearby and they figure that it won't get fixed until after 3:00.  If our admin knows that the power will be out for more than two hours, they will send us home.  So, I'm off!

Be back later.

I still recall going across the street when the neighbor's transformer exploded.  By the time I got out there she was already outside with her dog.

There are some winds, but they're not too high.

Fortunately the explosion did not cause a fire, plus the fire department got there fairly quickly to check all was good.  A couple of years later a friend lost her house after the transformer exploded.

The winds must have shifted direction as it wasn't as smokey here this morning.  The smoke was blowing all the way from California.
