DR John G, yes, I worked on the Encores! Paint Your Wagon. I restored the long missing 2nd bass/tuba part from the full scores. That was a delightful production, and luckily some of the worst added lines to the edited libretto were cut (something anachronistic about the wordplay on miners and minors was completely wrong). Keith Carradine is such a kind man, and the cast was so good.

DR TCB, Stella is a biter. I think it's a sign of affection, but it's also a sign that she plays rough. I read that this is often a case when cats are separated too early from mother and siblngs.

I‘d guess I felt that way when seeing those Spielberg films, even if it wasn’t so much a conscious thought. I mainly remember being blown away those first few times, in a way that probably hadn’t happened before. This goes for seeing Jaws at the Pix, Close Encounters and Poltergeist (however much he did or didn’t actually direct it) at the Paramount, and E.T. at the Dome, followed by the Picwood.

I made it through Act One. Will watch the rest later. The male chorus has some great voices. Someone named Nathaniel Hackman did a great version of They Call the Wind Maria.

I just got an email from Joshie, and all is good. I will look over my orchestra score, cross T's and dot I's, and then declare it finished. I want to finish going through a reader's thoughts on my A&T book. I'm still trying to get this search and correct spacing after a period to work.

British conductor John Wilson asked me about Hackman when he was casting Curly for his Proms concert of Oklahoma! and I was happy to recommend him. He's a good guy. Here's the Proms broadcast. Hus Laurie is my beloved Scarlet Strallen, who played the lead in The New Yorkers and whom DR Ginny, Richard, and I saw in A Gentleman's Guide to Murder.

BK is so right about the Harlem and Cuba sequences in Topaz. I remembered those two almost exclusively after first seeing it, and so looked forward to them on my return.

Same with Torn Curtain and its tense set pieces — the chalkboard conversation, farmhouse murder, and the bus ride. And yet so much else in the film is such watered down Hitch.
