Well, you've read the notes, the notes did a pas de bouree, and now it is time for you to post until the dancing cows come home.

TOD I, too, took classes with Roland Dupree.  Annette Cardona took me to his studio.  I took two beginning jazz classes before he asked to see me.  I thought he was going to tell me I was terrible and not to come back.  Turns out he told me to come to the intermediate classes
instead.

After several weeks I had to quit for awhile 'cause I couldn't afford it.  When I finally went back a few months later, I went to a beginning class as I felt rusty.  After the class he said to me, "I told you to come to intermediate.  Don't let me see you in beginning again." and walked away.

Hi, jan.  Intersting story.  Did you ever go to the intermediate class?

Topic of the Day:  for quite a few months (I don't think it lasted a whole year, but it might have), I took an adult tap class through the former Capitol Playhouse.  Those were fun and most people in the class were beginners.  I think I might actually still have my tap shoes, but they probably wouldn't be worth using, again.  The screws that held one of the taps must've been defective because by the time the class ended, they would never stay in, so it was a good thing that the class ended when it did. ::)

I took a Winter Term course in beginning tap in college, but that only lasted for a month. It was fun, but I felt I wasn't particularly talented in the art of the dance. I screwed some taps into a pair of dress shoes I owned, so it was very do-it-yourself.

DR TCB, what terrible news! I hope your day is either pain-free as possible or so filled with painkillers that nothing matters.  I hope Sasha is treating you nicely.  Annabelle would put on her Red Cross nurse cap and bring you orange juice, aspirin, and a cockroach, and Dr Thatch would want to see your wound.  Stella would try to eat your sutures.

Last night we watched the last BBC version of The Wind In The Willows. The actors, including Bob Hoskins as Badger, avoid animal makeup, and the treatment reflects Kenneth Grahame's view of Ratty, Mole, Toad, etc. as Edwardian English gentlemen.  The cast is quite good, and the 90-minute adaptation avoids the subtle beauty of the book's "Dulce Domum" or "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" and goes straight to the saga of the raucous Toad of Toad Hall and his obsessions. Jim Carter and Imelda Staunton have funny turns as a train engineer and the barge woman who encounter Toad when he breaks out of prison. The cast is quite good, and, for the ending, the screenwriter stole the end of the Disney animated version in which Toad becomes obsessed with airplanes.

I have no plans today.  I sent the scans of my orchestration to the Philly Pops conductor, but he has not yet responded.

I've still got some notes from an A&T reader too go through with my text.  Two friends I respect read the book and had some good thoughts and corrections.  I finished one, and I'm halfway through the other.

Yesterday I sent the first 50 pages of the book to an agent who has handled other cat books.  I hope she "gets" it.

Oh my god, TCB!

I know that doing that kind of thing to a finger is sickeningly painful. Somehow or other, my sister and I both managed to slam car doors on fingers as kids. Those times were painful enough, and they never required a doctor. This, I can’t even imagine.

Ditto!!!

I think it is worth noting that if DR TCB were Dr. T, he'd have approximately 4,999 spare fingers.

So, FRENZY. I saw it about a million times starting with its opening night at the Dome, but now it’s probably been twenty years since I last watched it. I certainly liked it, but I can’t wait to see it again, now, with BK’s comments about the cast in mind. I believe it was my introduction to every one of those actors.

I don’t think I know ANY other score by Ron Goodwin. That can’t be right, so I’ll consult his filmography. But I thought the score to FRENZY only started to come alive in a few of the key suspense scenes, and I was always put off by the acoustic.

I saw Frenzy a couple of times when it was first released.  I liked it very much, but I haven't seen it in years. I last saw Anna Massey, sister of Daniel, as a psycho killer on Midsomer Murders, and she was a wonderful villanous Aunt Norris in the BBC Sense and Sensibility from the 1980s. She was married to Jeremy Brett, who left her for a gondolier, and I recently heard from a London friend that she was Prince Philip's mistress for years!  I wonder if that will end up in The Crown?

It's 34 degrees out, and the building management has not closed the outdoor pool and is still sending someone out each day to skim the leaves. It's from hunger, I tell you.

Square Dancing used to be a unit in my Elementary School gym class.  I loved that a lot more than rope climbing.
