Come Early Morning was the name of the movie Adams directed. I found it sweet and well made.

Texas singer-songwriter Billy Joe Shaver has died. Saw him play half a dozen times, maybe more. Drove through an ice storm once to hear him play with Kinky Friedman. Saw him play at Willie Nelson’s Pure Luck Ranch, where he also performed with Willie after he finished his own set. Met him a few times, too. Pure Texas music. He had a great song called I’m Just an Old Chunk of Coal (but I’m gonna be a diamond some day). It was used over the credits of a beautiful little film that Joey Lauren Adams directed.

That's great you were able to see him preform several times.  The sound on the link was excellent and I was able to listen to the entire song.  I can see why you enjoyed watching him in person.

Around 3:45 I ordered groceries to be delivered by 6:00.  Thirty minutes ago I got an email saying there was a delay and the groceries would arrive between 6:15 and 6:45.  At 5:30 the delivery arrived!

I've never heard of him, but that's too bad. :(

DR CHAS SMITH there is a similar film with Miss Dinah Shore & Pat Boone extolling the virtues of the 1959 Chevrolet - there is a flag on the upper right hand side that reads: "Not for broadcast."

I think the 1961 film was also for trade shows or dealers.......

My uncle and my sister came today.  We had pizza and talked about movies and television.

My uncle knows the name of some of the regular American Bandstand dancers from Philadelphia.....so I showed him where he could view some videos on YouTube.....

I have more than three weeks of vacation built up. This is the last year we can carry over time. Starting next year, no one apparently gets more than 49 days off in the year, which is close to 10 weeks. But you can buy up to three weeks. I bought an extra week this year, which started before we knew about the pandemic. They will refund that next year. Going forward, you will get reimbursed for time not taken. But you must also take 10 days. In other words, if you don’t take a minimum of two weeks, you won’t be reimbursed for that time. Somewhat convoluted, I know.

The electrician was right on time and was here maybe two minutes. It turns out he wasn't here to do work today, he was just taking measurements and checking things out for when he returns in a few weeks. The manager, of course, never tells us anything. She knows nothing about building maintenance and therefore doesn't even know what questions to ask. But the electrician saw the file cabinet, was able to work around it today, and said they could move it when they come next time. I'll move little stuff out of the way for them then.

BK. Can you give me simple explanations on the differences between

Producing, engineering, editing, mixing and mastering?

Engineering a recording means the engineer figures out the layout of the room for the musicians/singers, decides which mics are best for what and gets everything prepared in the booth so when the band comes in he can have them play and get levels.  My folks know what I like to hear when we're recording so they do that.  They also get the headphone mixes ready and then adjust when the players need something.  Once recording, he makes sure everything is going down without distortion and cleanly.

Mixing (with only a couple of early albums the exception, I use engineers who also do the mix) - the two I've worked with most take the tracks we've recorded and mix them together so all the instruments are in the proper place in the soundscape, reverb is what I like, then the singers are added if there are singers.  I eventually trusted both to do the initial mix themselves, then I'd hear and be happy or make whatever adjustment I feel necessary.  Those mixed and approved tracks get sent to the mastering engineer.

His/her job is to make sure the levels are consistent between tracks, assembles everything in order, and generally smooths out the sound so the album is all of a piece - he can't change the mix, so it's just the levels (you never want the listener to have to touch their volume knob), and adding the hot fudge and whipped cream to the sound.

Thank you!!

Met with my surgeon this morning. It looks like my recent medical journey has reached an end point. There are still consultations to see if I need to modify my diet, but no further surgeries in the immediate future.

Excellent news!! I am grinning from ear to ear reading this!

Last night TCB asked if I still ate my take-out falafels. Yes. The guy who didn't wash his hands was just the order-taker and had nothing to do with food preparation. Whether the kitchen staff washes their hands often I couldn't say.

DR Jeanne, I would suggest you might call the restaurant management and explain your concerns about the employee without mentioning when you were there or who the employee might be, just giving the facts.  Maybe all the employees need to be shaped up/

That's what I was thinking. I'm not trying to get the guy in trouble, especially since I think a lot of young people wouldn't have washed their hands, either. Most younger people just don't seem to take Covid very seriously. And I don't know that any of the other employees are any more cognizant of sanitation issues than he was.

It is hard to imagine he didn't tell her he would be taking measurements and the date of his return.  Oh well, at least he seems competent.

DR Jeanne, which Wind in the Willows were you watching?

Probably not THIS ONE on YouTube for The Show Must Go One, and it'll only be available for 48 hours!  So, watch it soonly!!

This looks pretty bad.  I think she might have been watching this:

This actually an excellent series, we used to watch it all the time when the Vixter was young.  I am sure I have the dvds somewhere

I am convinced Trump made Coney Barrett sign a document in her own blood before she was confirmed.  He's packing the court because he's counting on "his" judges to confirm he won the election when /if he contests it.  I do not trust her at all.

She's been put in a tough spot. She's bright, she knows what's going on. She's a pawn for the far right and I doubt that she's happy about that. She's getting a lot of hate from Democrats, which can't be comfortable for her. Whether she deserves it or not I can't say. I wonder if her skin is thick enough. Washington is a mean place.

Maybe you need to buy a 1961 Chevrolet.

My first car was a blue ‘62 Chevy Biscayne.  I loved that car.

My A&T blog keeps getting hits from China.  I do not know anyone in China so I don't know if someone's trying to hack into my computer or steal my stories and characters.

Or perhaps someone from China who loves cats -- or who has children who love cats -- is trying to post and is a bit clumsy about it.
