BK, your notes made my day. I am so happy that you enjoyed Schwanda. Universal Edition was Weinberger's publisher, also Kurt Weill's, and I believe that those German scores were preserved because the company did not follow the Nazi edict to destroy them. I'm guessing that one of the reasons Weinerger had such a hard time in the USA during the war was a combination of learning English and not receiving any Schwanda royalties from the publisher.
I had always wanted a vocal score, and they hardly ever show up, so I photocopied the score at the Library of Congress. Then I found one, about the same time that I found a copt of Braunfels' Die Vogel, in a great used music shop on 72nd Street.
