TOD:

My home has been burglarized twice. They were looking for a gun both times, which they didn’t find, since I don’t have one. They also emptied my change bucket both times.

Twice :)

How did you know they were looking for a gun?

It’s what the police said.

He lives in Texas.

Ha!

Nearly 2:00 and no sign of the damned service man. Around 12:45 time Warner sent me an email saying he was on his way.  Sure.

DR Laura, I never knew your husband was a pilot! Even for as short a time as I enjoyed being a private pilot, losing that flight log would be heartbreaking. I'm so sorry to hear that.

Learning to fly was on his bucket list. NOTHING I ever want to do EVER will be as expensive as that.

He flew a wee Cessna for a few years.

I think I need a fainting couch like JRAND’s.

You need a fainting couch like mine.

Ha!

The patented HHW vibes are working.

The procedure took only about 20 minutes although I was in the chair waiting for the numbing to take place, etc, for about an hour and fifteen minutes in total.

My sister has gone to pick up my prescription which sounds  like some good stuff....  I am still using the gauze.....

Not much pain yet...still some numbness.....and while I couldn't feel anything, it sounded like Dr. Taylor was cracking walnuts in there........but there you are.

It's done.  I shall retire to my fainting couch probably for the rest of the day.....

Fantastic! I hope the pains remain light.

Lost in the Stars was one of Encores! best productions, and I wish it had got a recording.  The recording I mostly listen to the complete Julius Rudel one. Rudel conducted the NY City Opera performances.

Wasn't that the show with June Lockhart?

Learning to fly was on his bucket list. NOTHING I ever want to do EVER will be as expensive as that.

He flew a wee Cessna for a few years.

I flew the wee Cessnas (high wing) off and on between 1977 and 1985. In those last few years I also flew Pipers (low wing) which I really liked. In that time I accumulated about 260 hours and made 401 landings.

For years I've intended to either scan or photocopy the logbook as a backup. At one point I designed an Excel spreadsheet to enter all the data and have it do all the math for me. The design is good but I didn't get very far because, to my regret, there were a number of entries made by instructors or others that were barely decipherable. They write like doctors, and very very tiny.

As for the expense -- I kept track of every penny spent in the pursuit of flying from my first textbook to the day I got my license in 1978. That year of instruction, materials, and practice flying cost me $1500. No one believes that now. Today it costs student pilots $1500 to get out of bed in the morning.

Good Morning.  Looks like the boys are fine.  We are all glad that that episode is behind us.

First weekday of Christmas Break - I'm making beer bread for Christmas gifts, some with cheddar and bacon, some plain, some with just cheddar, it's quick and easy!

Oh....and I got a $100 deduction from the bill for "paying in full" which was a nice surprise.

That is a nice deduction.  Our current dentist as well as our last one also offer deductions for paying in full.

Cool.  Did you ever go up with him?  I have no desire to fly in small planes.

I have this recording (it wasn't one of the stolen ones...fortunately).  I haven't listened to it in years, though.

I ended up grabbing a 12 pack of Blue Ribbon, which is fine.  I think light beer wouldn't have as much yeast as regular and I wasn't going to take a chance.  So far they look great.

I hate beer but like beer bread and beer batter.  I was thinking light wouldn't have the same amount of flavor.  I never thought about the yeast.

Apparently I am not as old as I thought.  I will not be in the first round of seniors to be vaccinated which begins at 75.  The next round is 65 and older.

Mention of The Bartered Bride always leads me back to A Little Night Music:

The tenor on the boat that we charted
Belching The Bartered Bride.
Ah, how we laughed
Ah, how we cried...

That's the very first time that I'd ever heard of The Bartered Bride.

I don't like beer either, but I also like beer bread and beer batter.  I think it was Applebee's that for a while had breadsticks with a beer cheese...or something like that...to dip the breadsticks in.  It was really good. :)
