I finished the last hour of the LAW & ORDER marathon, and I enjoyed the show; very entertaining and all. However, I read more than one reviewer who said that Angela Lansbury's guest turn would more than likely finally win her that elusive Emmy.

Now, I adore Angela Lansbury second to none, and she was indeed commanding and thoroughly professional on these two L&O shows. But don't dramatic Emmy guest star winners have to do some hair-pulling, overemphatic (meaning over-the-top) performing to win those Emmys? William Shatner and Sharon Stone won them last year both playing over-the-top wacky characters (I think Stone's was insane, wasn't she?).

Lansbury's work seemed much too subtle and controlled to stand out. I think if she wins, it would probably be on her name and a sympathy vote rather than the showy emoting that usually garners these things for guest stars.

Now, understand. It's not that I don't think she deserves an Emmy for her work. She gave a superb performance as a mother blind to her son's crimes. But this kind of quiet playing just doesn't often earn its just rewards.

DR Rodzinski, I have had AOL forever.  I really have no complaints with AOL, it has always done fine by me.

There was a time, several years back, when getting bumped off-line would occur now and then, but that is now a thing in the past..

AOL also recently gave members free McAfee Virus Scan software, which is really nice, along with another free software that locates and gets rid of adware and spyware.

Anyway, my AOL experience has been a positive one.

AOL looks nice.  I have kept it because I don't want to go through the horridness of having to change e-mail addresses.  That said, AOL is becoming completely inept re e-mail, routinely depositing important e-mails in the spam folder.  When I was booking singers for the NY signing, not ONE of them (all AOL users) got the e-mail I sent - they all had to retrieve it from their spam folders.

I'm watching Phantom of the Opera - if I finish in time for the notes I'll have a few things to say.

Interesting...interesting.

And now for the HHW Sports Report.
My Pirates won their 10th game this season against 16 defeats to pass up Pogue's 10-17 Reds by a half game and get out of the cellar of the NL Central.
And that concludes the HHW Sports Report.

DR MBarnum, I have had the exact same experience with AOL. Used to get bumped off occasionally, but that never happens now. And I like the safeguards that are now provided. I feel very secure at AOL and have no plans to leave.

Question for BK and/or others:
I have never heard a good thing about AOL, aside from happy people on TV commercials. I have heard only bad things from real people. Therefore, why have AOL? Has it any redeeming qualities?

If you like porn, it does. Don't anybody say anything.

Congratulations, Ann!!! I'm drinking a Cherry Coke right now to celebrate.

I get to get up early tomorrow and take the first of my final exams. Can you all tell how excited I am?

I just got the critique from yesterday's Rhetoric presentation. Apparently, I was comfortable presenting in front of a large group, used good body language and coherent speech, and have a good understanding of the rhetoric in my subject. Pretty good, considering I was making it up as I went along.

Good Evening!

All in all, a very good day.  A bit long, but good.  -DR TCB?  Calling, DR TCB!  ;)

I got the rest of my stuff out of my old apartment.  I put some more stuff into my storage unit, and I brought a bunch of things over to Steve's place. ;)

Tonight's show went very well.  My fingers got sloppy in one section - ??? - but the rest of the show went very well.  I'm looking forward to the weekend shows.  Richmond is just not a "go out on the weeknight" sort of town, so the past two nights of shows have been a little "quiet" so to speak.   -But, hey, at least we're out three minutes earlier!

After the show, I stopped by this vegetarian Chinese/Japanese place called PandaVeg.  It's been getting some great write ups here in town as well as in some regional papers, so... I just got their Vegetarian Crab Rangoon and their Hot & Sour Soup.  Both were very good.  I shall have to return for a proper lunch and/or dinner - it's right near the theatre, so it's convenient.

And now I'm reading and posting....

As for struan...

It's still a mystery where my struan went.  Although, with the amount of "experiments" my old roomie usually had growing in the refrigerator, it has some good company if it's still in the apartment.

As for AOL...

Besides dealing with the usual "buggy" and "maintenance" periods, I've also have a very good experience with AOL overall.  Heck, all ISPs have their issues.

Since I travel a lot, AOL has been the easiest one for me to use wherever I end up.  Including international destinations.  Yes, most ISPs are web-based now, but you still need local access numbers and servers.

I did give MSN a try for a few months "simultaneously", but I don't like using Outlook - just makes it too easy to get e-mails, spam and viruses you don't really want.

STILL watching Phantom of the Opera.  I will only say that a) Joel Schumacher is a continuously lucky individual, b) they were lucky to have Vinnie Cirilli, and c) when one makes a casting decision that proves to be insurmountable and that casting decision happens to be one of the most famous roles in musical theater history, well, the film cannot succeed.

I'll have more to say in the notes.  I will say that I thought it started extremely well.

Well, I'm fading fast... And I'm also seeing a local production of SEUSSICAL tomorrow morning/later today at 10:15 - ?!?!?!  Whaddup widdat?!?!?  In any case... I have a bunch of friends in the show, and it will be nice to see them before I head out of town.

I plan to spend tomorrow afternoon going through a box or two of "stuff" - Bills, anyone? - so I should be around for the festivities - not that everyday isn't festive here in HHW.  Until then...

Goodnight.
