I love that Bergman collection because it's complete. The Essential Fellini isn't complete enough for me. And I have 75% of the movies in it separately, so I'm not interested in getting them again in a collection.

Well, that was an hour and a half of pure joy. 50 far-flung folks, from all facets and phases of Daniel's life, paying tribute with memories and laughter. It's a testament to his beauty and integrity to have such a wonderful celebration from his friends. This is what Zoom can do.

I'm now watching a depressing Criterion documentary called Minding the Gap. It's about skateboarders who really would rather do nothing else in their lives. But they've got kids and responsibilities and the rest of what happens in life. And it's hard to watch. It's also really good, which is why I've stuck with it for the first half.

The photography is excellent. The boys really do seem to be flying on their skateboards. There is a sense of exhilaration there.

Had dinner with friends tonight. Felt good to be around people for a while. Cecil grilled golden trout. We had good wine. And a good few hours.

His garden was destroyed in the recent cold snap. He doesn't know if his olive trees will be back, and I don't know about mine. He lost all his citrus, many of his herbs, his eggplant, etc.

But some of his herbs are coming back. The parsley planted in the ground was growing -- just like the mint I have in the ground.
