I was up and down too many times again last night, and after 4:00 Stella became a major pain in my butt.  Some nights she's very good and just wants to sleep next to me.  Last night she kept burying her head in my hand for pets, when she wasn't walking all over me. Thatch dropped by to sleep for a bit before running off to other adventures, and Annabelle, who has abandoned sleeping on my pillow, has moved back up to her bookcase aerie.  When it got too col, she jumped back down to burrow under the blankets and sleep next to me for warmth.  I see a nap in my future today.

Well, this morning I want the shipping company Chewy.com uses to go go bankrupt and fold.  I took the recyclables to the basement and then stopped on the first floor to pick up packages.  I had a couple of Amazon deliveries, and two Chewy.com carton, one containing kitty treats and the other containing a 13 lb bag of Meow Mix and a carton of Fancy Feast grilled tuna.  The sonofabitch who delivered them left them not where most packages are dropped off by the mailboxes but just inside the front door at the foot of five steps up to the lobby.

So I had to attempt to lug two cartons up five steps, maintain my balance, and forget about the painful hell on my legs.  The larger, heavier carton was open at one end and a second carton of Fancy Feast cans was missing.  I am not happy since this is about the fourth or fifth shipment in a row that has arrived looking as though it's been resealed and missing items.  Chewy/cp, has been great and speedy ion shipping replacements at no charge, but this is getting ridiculous.

My horoscope says I’m going to receive plural marriage proposals today. So, wish me luck. Maybe I’ll even know the people.

I've stopped using Petco because their customer service dept. employs too many ladies for whom English is a second or third language, and several orders were screwed up because I frankly didn't understand a thing they said.  I stopped using Amazon because their prices are getting ridiculously high, often twice the amount Chewy.com charges.

Here’s a great story for linguists on covid’s impact on the German language.

Just don't agree to help any Nigerians obtain the $20 million held in escrow.

You’re telling me to be picky? At my age?

I shall do a bit of cooking in a moment.

I want to watch the IOWA basketball game at noon.  And then we have a ZOOM board meeting which I expect to be full of folks with opinions based on nothing.....I am going to try to be quiet....

But I don't have much of an expectation of my effort....

Yesterday we were sent a PDF of the Profit/Loss and one of the Bank Balances.

Neither of these opened for me.  The PDF reader said I needed to upload a "character reader" because the PDFs contained Asian characters......I emailed Mr Prez  and the accountant who both declared the PDFs were fine as they were.....

I went back opened January and February PDFs and they were fine.  Maybe we should say sayonara to somebody.

I was looking for my immersion blender today.  It was nowhere to be found.

But that may be because I don't own one.

Elmore, what are the prices from Walmart.com or Target.com? Any better?

I haven't done any further comparison shopping.  I avoid Walmart and I never thought of Target.

I do not have an immersion blender.  As a matter of fact, I had never heard that term until today!

Chewy.com is a standout in this sorry world. We buy quite a bit at stores, but I think every order from there has gotten here the next day, and their customer service is great if you need it.

Of course deliveries are no problem because it's just to a house, so no lobby or other public area complications.

I was up again in the night, so when I finally did fall asleep again, I slept a bit later into the morning than normal.

Thanks for that link, DR John G.  So bad it's good.  That poor hapless young woman.

Yesterday was my first day of true awareness of the term immersion blender.

I don't have one, but I might go looking for it anyway in a show of solidarity.

For those who enjoyed "The Mistake Waltz," here is the full half-hour ballet it's excerpted from, "The Concert."

If you like to make soups, owning an immersion blender is kind of handy.
