This cute dog is Damu. He was in foster from the New York animal shelter.  The day after the sonsabitches posted this video of him in foster on their YouTube channel, they killed him.  This senseless killing of adoptable animals is horrifying.

The ballet records on Kapp - owned by Universal, a nut we haven't been able to crack, sadly.

Good afternoon. I participated in a bird count this morning. After the hot temps we had a couple weeks ago, I was afraid it would be terribly hot today. It was quite nice.

We hiked in to the transect about 3 miles. We started hiking in the dark. I was hoping to see or hear some owls. By the time we got back to the cars, we had walked about 8 miles.

I don't know from transects. I just start calling out the birds when they tell me to start.

Break out the pantaloons and ham chunks.  They are Keto-friendly, you know.

In your Spring gardening, did any of you plant one of these?

The bathroom ceiling has been quiet and leak-free for the past month. But today, the streak ended.  A new soaking.  This despite the management replacing the shower/tub in the apartment directly above us.  Sigh.

I had a dream that I was having dinner at Steve Sondheim's house. I was helping in the kitchen. He asked me to put the rolls on the table. And I turned to him and said:

I sort of hate to ask it,
But do you have a basket?

BK, I forgot to mention about Balanchine's Nutcracker, when the Christmas tree grows to a height of 50 feet or so and the set transforms to gigantic height, the effect in the theatre is amazing and no DVD can capture it. When Balanchine gave the budget for the 1954 production to City Center, they fought the price to build the tree. Balanchine told them, the ballet is the Christmas tree.

The tree is the worst thing when it comes to attending "local" productions.

Maybe there's a book in "Nutcracker" disasters? There are several on stage and opera mishaps, but I've never seen one for ballet.

I don't know about a book, but there's at least one video:

Oh, shit.  I am so sorry.  When your ceiling falls in for the fourth or fifth time, you'll be in my ballpark!

DR George---I saw some of "The Musical of Musicals (The Musical)" last night.  The Chicago number is hilarious, with Christine Pedi playing Carol Channing, Elaine Stritch and others.

All this talk about Maltby and Shire has led me to youtube.  I'm listening to some of the songs from "Closer Than Ever," especially those by BB.
