George, I have never heard that other song you mentioned last night.  Just sayin’.

"Make the Most of Your Music" was written for the 1987 original London revised version of Follies.  James Goldman rewrote (some of?) the book and Sondheim wrote some new songs and dropped some existing songs.  I guess it had a less depressing ending.

Today, the family is going to my mom's for tacos for lunch.  Before I knew what we were going to have today, my sister asked me a few days ago what I would like for my birthday in a couple of weeks.  I said tacos!  When I found out that we're going to have tacos this Saturday (which is now today), I was fine with that and am looking forward to two days of tacos! :D

I recorded Make the Most of Your Music for The Stephen Sondheim Album - the opening cut with Brent Barrett. We've done it several times at Kritzerland. And I put it in the Lost and Unsung revue.

I really do like the song...especially Brent's version!

Would a recipe really be different for limes verus lemons?  I've seen many lemon bar recipes that said you could just substitute limes.
Maybe DR John G. was just being funny.

Yesterday was a weird day, as well. My right leg has been doing poorly since that Thursday encounter with the Fed Ex delivery and my jerk neighbor Mark, so I limped about in pain no amount of Advil would relieve yesterday.  I also felt poorly and spent too much time hobbling to ther bathroom. I went to bed around 8:15. This morning is the second time this week that I have stepped into a puddle of cat vomit, so there's some malaise getting all of us down.

I still have a lot of cat food to be organized and put away, but at the moment, the Big Ladder is out of the question.

DR George, it's my understanding that after the London production, that version of Follies was pulled and not available for performances.

In 1983 or so, I was talking to Steve and he said he was busy with new songs for the London version of Follies. After a pause, I said something like, Why? I think that score's mighty good as it is. Steve's answer was, Me, too.  Then he explained that it was Goldman's idea to rethink it, and he felt obligated to go along with it.

Thirty-six years ago today Sunday in the Park with George won the Pulitzer prize. A composer "friend" whose one musical was a flop called me a couple of years ago to ask how he could win the Pulitzer. I didn't laugh, and I told him what to do. I really wanted to ask my "friend" why he didn't ask me to orchestrate his show,
