No one else in The Hunchback of Notre Dame is using a French accent, so I was thinking with my five lines as King Louis XI, I might try one.....but I keep sounding like Pepe LePew - and he has been canceled.

My question for ASK BK DAY.

I have noticed on The Donna Reed Show and a few other older shows that there is a lot of sibilant "sssss" from actors.

Is that from the way it was recorded or is it in the reproduction? Shouldn't the sound engineer have noticed that and taken care of it?

Wednesday morning greetings! Yesterday I had a nice Zoom get-together with the book group sponsored by the library where my career began. We discussed Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises and the new Ken Burns series about the author.

Then I spent a couple of hours sitting outside Starbucks with my friend Rebecca, who is still having a very hard time following the death of her husband last fall.

Right, like that is going to happen. I read the story yesterday. Shocking enough was that they didn't want their teachers vaccinated. Incredibly shocking is the statement vaccinated people harm those who are not vaccinated

Most of those older TV shows are videotapes of 16mm prints and the sound frequently will do that. Not the fault of the recordist.

I still recall my father watching an episode from a medical show and laughing out loud. The x-ray was upside down.

It's an "Academy," so it could be a private school and might not even accredited.

Had to read that book four times for different classes. Never liked it, but I grew to dislike it more with each reading.

Glad that's solved.

I sent a donation to a charity in Chicago last December and noticed that the check hadn't cleared the bank. In March it finally did. I suspect that was a slow mail problem and not carelessness on the charity's behalf.

Pleased that you're doing better. You might want to talk to your pharmacist. When you're pushing the envelope with one pain med you can alternate with a different one, so that you're not taking too much of either one. But you should know which are complementary.
