Fireworks here, too, both last night and today. More this evening, of course.

Last night I watched DESTRY RIDES AGAIN, a classic I'd never seen and wanted to. Some lovely close-ups of Jimmy Stewart, who was a good friend of my late Aunt Margaret.

I Googled national holidays, and I see tomorrow is considered a "regional" holiday. I don't know how that differs from a "Federal" holiday!

I have tomorrow off from work.  It's the 4th of July observed, so we get a day off instead of adding the time to our vacation accrual...which is fine.  It's just time.

It's been three weeks now since my big back (technically neck and shoulders) flare-up and, although somewhat better, I don't feel stable yet. Today is better, but I sure don't feel like pushing it.

I've been watching a lot of YouTube stretch videos. I stretch every morning for an hour, but it's just not enough. I found a PT in the UK named Jasper, who has some stretches that actually target my most troublesome areas. Thank you, Jasper, my new friend. Most of the PTs I've been to use a one-size-fits-all approach and simply haven't helped me.

That's great, Jeanne!  Hope it continues to work!

Well, I've just been watching YouTube videos again, and checking my e-mails.  Now, I need to take a shower and leave my house because I need to get out for a while.  Right now, it's only 79°, so it's comfortable.

I've had a scare, and the firemen just left my apartment. I was lying down with the cats and watching television - more on that tomorrow - and I kept smelling gas or propane or something, and I thought it was blowing in from the window. This had been going on for several hours, and I finally got spooked and called 911.  A fire crew arrived and went through the building holding monitors to the apartment doors. When they got to mine, the fireman's monitor blew up, but he found the problem: one of the dials to a burner on my stove had been turned on but the pilot light hadn't lit. This must have happened around 2:00 while I was trying to get onto that damned ladder to wash the doors. I felt very foolish, but I didn't kill the cats, thank God.

Very scary, Elmore. Glad all is OK.

My patriotic film today is Leningrad Cowboys Go America. It’s a Finnish film about a bizarre Soviet polka band that comes to America and learns to rock. One scene was filmed in San Antonio.

It’s very sweet.

It was 95 here today; too hot to walk outside. Instead, we selected an aerobic "walk in place" video and did that. It had a 15-minute yoga/stretching coda, which was nice.

Two days ago I took this young woman under my wing with her Kickstarter campaign. She is now approaching being 50% to her goal, and I'd say that getting there in three-and-a-half days considering how few perks there are means she will reach her goal. It's fun helping her, and she's done every single thing I've asked her to do and obviously  it's working. :)

Dinner tonight began with the most delicious roasted brussels sprouts we have ever had.  They had a balsamic honey sauce on them, super yummy.

That's great, DR Jane. How I hated Brussels sprouts growing up, and how I love them now!

Oh, my goodness! :o Feeling foolish is quite okay!  So glad you didn't accidentally kill YOU!
