Eileen....my oh my...after all these years.

Cow Tails...I wonder if this is the same thing we used to call Cat Tails?  I don't know what they tasted like to be sure, but they did have cocoanut on the outside and were almost ALL sugar inside, I am sure.

EBAY customers beware.  I have already received two emails today congratulating me for adding a new email to my account.

THESE EMAILS ARE NOT FROM EBAY and should be forwarded to Ebay@spoof.com.  DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK!

Yep, there's another wave of those spoof e-mails out there right now.  And, unfortunately, some of them are also sending back spoof responses.  Those guys are sneaky!

I've been getting a least two a day the past week from spoof paypal addresses.

Cowtails are long "ropes" of nougat wrapped in caramel.

I have never heard of the Cat Tails you mentioned, but they sort of sound like Chick-O-Sticks.

I did get to DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES this afernoon after lunch. Excellent season ending episode. SOme mysteries cleared up, some cliffhangers left, some stories ended with dangling threads for next season, and Alfre Woodard's moving into the neighborhood with her own seasson propelling mystery to come!

I really think this was one of the best season enders I've seen yet, but I withold final judgments until I see tonight's '24,' tomorrow's HOUSE, and WEdnesday's LOST.

Speaking of marshmallows, I happened to catch a segment of an old Marth Stewart show yesterday in which she made a bizarre variation of Rice Krispie marshmallow treats.  Along with starting out with a marshmallow base that included something like a pound of melted butter, she used six cups each of Rice Krispies, Cap'N'Crunch and Fruit Loops.  She then managed to jam this massive amount of mixture into a 9" x 9" x 2" pan, which, once set, was sliced into these huge 3" x 3" squares.  I couldn't imagine taking more than a few bites of these things before getting sick of them.  They are the fruitcake of marshmallow treats.

For instantly rotting teeth, try the standard Rice Krispie treat recipe, but replace the Rice Krispies with Fruity Pebbles.  I suggest cutting fairly small pieces, but I must admit I rather enjoy this ridiculous sugar rush.

Over the last couple of months, I've gotten phony Ebay/PayPal e-mails saying my account was in jeopardy if I didn't validate my credit information. Hmmmm . . . . . wonder if they thought I was the least bit suspicious of a scam, especially since I never responded to them?

Not to mention the mystery of who will narrate next season.

I bet that's what they are!  Chick o Sticks....they always made me cough because the cocoanut was so fine...as is SMALL.

I think the writers of EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND must be lurkers at HHW.

I noticed that Frank the father played by Peter Boyle called something "unseemly" a few episodes ago.  And on a rerun I saw last week, he said "Luck is the residue of design" which used to be under DR JOSE'S avatar.

Hee hee--been there, done that, DR Jed.  I've also added gobs of peanut butter and/or Hershey's Cocoa Syrup to the marshmallow mixture.  As sugar rushes go, it's not a bad one.

I think we should put our collective sweet tooths together and come up with the official HHW candy bar.

Now...  Would we call it a "Hainsie" or a "Kimlet"?

Maybe both... One could be with nuts, one without.

Of course, the slogan would have to be, "What is it, fish?"

Oh, and I have had some of those chocolate-covered licorice pieces recently.  Pretty good.  I wonder if Benjamin Kritzer would approve?

Maybe Rex will narrate DH next season.

I think that would be an excellent idea. One thing about Rex's death puzzles me. They knew the heart medication wasn't having the effect on his heart that they wanted, but why didn't they notice that the medication wasn't in his system (since the jealous pharmacist was not filling the prescription properly)?

They noticed the increase in potassium (which probably makes them suspect Bree of trying to poison him and will probably lead to a long, drawn out plot strand next season), but why didn't they notice the medication wasn't in his bloodstream? It's the first thing I would have thouight they'd notice.

I am listening to the Il Divo CD. There are some very nice  voices and I enjoy the style of singing...it is like Andrea Bocelli....operatic.

Despite the hunkiness of the guys, I don't know how popular this group will be with the youngsters....but us older folks might appreciate them.

TOD - A couple of people have mentioned stale marshmallow Peeps.  I like those, along with stale jelly beans and stale fig newtons.

Another confectionary oddity that I like are Modjeskas, a marshmallow pillow covered in caramel.  They are named for Polish actress Helena Modjeska, who so enchanted a Louisville, KY, confectioner that he asked permission to rename his "Caramel Biscuits" in her honor.  This was after he saw her performance in A Doll's House at the McCauley Theatre in 1883.  Modjeska was the real-life model for the actress character in Susan Sontag's novel In America.  When my book group met to discuss that book, we ate these candies.

Whew!  I taught a 3-hour "Grantseeking Basics" workshop this afternoon to 27 students and I'm wiped out.  Heading home soon to discover what culinary delight DH Richard has decided upon for our dinner.  Then, I'll probably have to have a candy bar...
