Thursday afternoon greetings!  It’s been an eventful day here.  A crew arrived before 8 to complete the removal of the front porch.  Then this afternoon Zach was here with the initial design for the new patio/steps ensemble that will replace the porch.  It will be very different, but so-o-o-o pretty.

So glad to get good reports from DRs Jane and Elmore on yesterday’s procedures!

Hoping for similar news today from DR Jeanne…

Jeanne is home from her procedure and asked me to let you all know that. She's still dilated and will post later, but everything seems to have gone well.

For days, I too have been following news on the Nowzad Sanctuary situation, checking their website and facebook page.  About an hour ago they posted an update on FB.

Current update:
"We would confirm that Pen, the Nowzad team and the animals are all safe at the moment.
We will let you know of any developments."

It doesn't say where they are, just that they are safe.

I am going to check tomorrow to see if I am eligible for a booster since I have a compromised immune system.....but I don't want to get the shot until AFTER/IF the play goes on....but then I have an event on September 28 and a colonoscopy on October 4....so I might wait until after that.....

You are eligible.

So what do these booster shots do? And will you all be eligible soon?  Our vaccine passport system is set to start on September 1st. Only people double vaxed can go to restaurants, bars, gyms...

Basically it is like getting a flu shot every year as the flu vaccine is only good for about six months.  Since covid does not seem to be seasonal we need boosters as we reach the 6 or 7 month mark.  People with autoimmune issues, including cancer patients, need a booster to increase their protection as the vaccine doesn't work as well on them.

I'm only at 2 months since my 2nd shot.

It is a shame so many unvaccinated people refused to wear masks and let this spread again.

We are lucky at least that masks have always been mandatory indoors. And they just decided that kids will unfortunately have to start the year wearing masks in their classes when school starts next week.

I got up early this morning to find the kitchen sink clogged. I contacted the manager, who just returned to work after surgery for a benign brain tumor (!) and asked her to call the plumber. She did so, but I got the usual Blame the Tenant response. I've had more plumbing problems here than at ANY other place I've ever lived, but it must of course be my fault. Brain surgery hasn't changed her attitudes toward others.

The plumber came by shortly after I returned home and snaked the drain. By that time I'd already gotten most of it out using my new old-school method of lots of very hot water. In any case, I now have a functioning kitchen sink.

My eyes are still a bit wonky and I feel like I'd like to sleep for a month, so I'll say TTFN.

By the time you reach 6 months they should have more information to help with the decision making.  I am guessing a booster for you would mean Pfizer since that was your second dose.

The FDA approved Pfizer is called Comirnaty (koe-mir'-na-tee).

I am so sorry you had to deal with that on top of your surgery.
