Friday Media Check:

CD - SPAMALOT (OCR) I've had this for two weeks and have yet to play it. Too many other irons in the fire.

DVD - DIE HARD 2
         THE BEST OF EVERYTHING

DVR - last Sunday's DEADWOOD
         last Wednesday's LOST finale
         last night's CSI
THE MAIDS (Glenda Jackson/American Film Theater)

My goal is to get ALL of this watched during this holiday weekend. Let's see if it happens. Definitely up first will be LOST. I've had to do a lot of dodging spoilers all over the place on the internet and in magazines for the last few days so as not to get too much information before I see it.

And it looks like it's going to be a glorious weekend weather-wise here as well, but as I'm not much of an outdoors person other than walking, no problem.

First post here...

Jumped the gun this morning while shooting a couple of gophers in the back yard before work...

In the CD Player: (3 disc player) Guys & Dolls (Lane/Prince), Oklahome (London '98) and By Jeeves (London)

In the DVD PLayer: The Ten Commandments, disc 2. (I'm up for a voice over gig and the director wants a vaguely Charleton Heston sound)

Sad news about Bogie.  He was loved.

DR MBarnum:  Your mention of the "late Cal Bolder" came as somewhat of a shock in yesterday's notes.  I didn't know that he had passed away.

MEDIA CHECK:

CD:  Dark Shadows - and yes DR DANISE I know why you want to see Lynhurst....take YOUR camera!

VHS:  Dark Shadows Volume 27

DVD:  lots of surprises from DR MBARNUM including:

MURDER AT THE (not Radio City) MUSIC HALL - featuring Miss Vera Ralston's last skating on film (she hung up her skates to concentrate on acting at the behest of Republic Studios head, a sugar daddy, Herbert J. Yates), William Marshall (the last Mr Ginger Rogers), and Miss Nancy Kelly (doing acting a LOT like she would do a decade hence in THE BAD SEED).

SPRING SONG - a Hong Kong rock and roll musical about a tomboy and her friend a lovely singer who each love the boy who loves the other....only the boys really don't....the girls learn that by just being themselves, they can get the boy they want.  But with some American music in the background.

LADIES FIRST - another Hong Kong movie about a couple of girls who also like the other's boyfriend...with some swim trunks, night clubs, American background music, and a little sex in it.

Others to follow.

Oh my.  I just did a Google images search for Cal Bolder and came up with DR MBarnum's interview accompanied by this and other pictures.

It is curious that the website misspells his name throughout, even on picture file names.  Of course, in the body of the article MBarnum never makes such an egregious error.

Thus saith the DOCENT.

As for Friday Media Check...

Well, you know the drill...  at least for me...

In any case...  Steve has been playing internet radio here this morning.  He came across a station called "Space Age Pop" on Live365 (spaceagepop.com).  Fun stuff!!  There was a great Spike Jones track playing earlier, "I Was A Teenage Brain Surgeon" as well as some Swingle Singers.  Great morning music!  *Oh, and he also came across something called "Fluffer Tracks".  -Proceed with caution!

Well... Time for me to get packed up here, and get ready to head out to lunch.  I'm taking Steve to someplace still to be decided - probably Stella's or Can-Can since it happens to be his birthday today too!  And then I shall start the journey back up I-95.  *Good No Traffic Vibes would be much appreciated.

Until I'm back up in Fairfax...

Laters...

Our office closes at 3 today. So generous.
I must then hie to Mt. Kisco, NY for a wedding. The guy who dragged us up to Montreal for his bachelor bash is tying the knot today at 5:30.

Tomorrow I will hit the road early to help a friend move to Vermont. He and  his gal are moving into a Buddhist retreat. My gal and I will spend the rest of the weekend up there and in New Hampshire.

Thus, I must post all now before I succumb to errancy and truancy.

From what I've been perusing on the various and sundried message boards this morning, the Light On The Piazza CD is the Holy Grail of cast recordings this week.  It seems to be sold-out everywhere.  Who woulda thought?  Amazon informed me last night that my copy has been shipped, so I expect to have it in hand on Tuesday.  I've already heard some of the score and I am in love with the opening number.
