But before I leave....

Does anyone else think that the fact that Brooklyn actually posted their closing notice in a timely fashion - four weeks notice rather than the now-normal two or one week notice - is an attempt - a "hope" - that they may somehow have some post-Tony pick up in business?

-Boy was that sentence quite a run-on...

It will be the only show no nommed to remain open after the Tony Awards ceremony.

Just wondering?

Or maybe it has something to do with the Plymouth Theatre since that is where Jekyll & Hyde played for so long, or as some people thought... too long.

...Which was just renamed the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre...

*Anyone know if Gerald Schoefeld and Mark Schoenfeld (the composer of Brooklyn are related?

Hmm....

In any case..

Elmore!  You dog!  ;)   You just beat me out on a copy of   7 FACES OF DR. LAO on E-bay, didn't you?

I just hit the Buy Now button and was told it was sold to an Elmore5!

DRDanise, I'm so sorry!  I am such a dog!  Forgive me.  If I'd known you were after it as well, I'd have let you take it.

Speaking of "Ding dong the witch is dead," it's what the Chelsea Music copyists  were singing on the day the director of THE RED SHOES, whose latest show just closed, was replaced.

Awww, it's ok.  Like I said, I just thought it was funny.  You must have just hit the buy button at about the same time I did.   :D

That's one of the few times I've ever been beat out on something I wanted on E-bay and it had to be by a friend!   :o :)

I've been looking at hotel packages all morning long--I was trying to find a package deal (airfare/hotel/transport to/from the hotel) on the Comfort Inn Midtown but none of the travel services list it.

It's just across the street from the Muse but at a much lower price.  If I felt more comfortable about it, I guess I could book everything seperate but I worry that you start having problems when you do that.  How do most of you book your travel?  Package deals or everything seperate?

I think everything the show Bklyn has done has been shameless, stupid, and pointless, including opening in the first place.

I liked SOUTH PARK for the first couple of seasons, but eventually it seemed to turn into one big half hour of seeing how many times the kids could swear...it just got tiring for me...I would like to think the show got back to being funny instead of just gross. I should check it out again.

"In the 'waiting for romance to come' war"

BK, that's what it sounded like, but I just didn't get it.  It turns out that it was the punctuation that I really needed. ;D

Favorite Harold Arlen songs:

The Man That Got Away (only sung by Judy...of course)
One For My Baby
Paper Moon (Laurel Masse, formerly of The Manhattan Transfer recorded a kick-ass up-tempo version of this song!)
Stormy Weather
That Old Black Magic (Janis Siegel of The Manhattan Transfer recorded this song and the arrangement changes time signatures several times.  It's predominantly in 5/4 and it's wonderful!!)

ABC just interviewed Russell Crowe.  Yes, if I want real insight on the Indianapolis 500, Mr. Crowe would certainly be my first choice.

Well in the past, DR TCB, the local stations have interviewed such experts on Auto Racing as Barbara Eden, Florence Henderson, Eddie Bracken, and Shelley Winters.

The most insightful thoughts however were given by that pea picker Tennessee Ernie Ford who was given a bouquet of flowers on the steps of the Veteran's Hospital by Miss Frances Farmer, and everyone looked liked they weren't quite sure what he/she was doing there.

Is this a slow news day here at haineshisway.com?

Spent the morning dealing with After the Ball AFTRA details.  We should now be able to just hand over all the paperwork to a payroll service and be done with it.

No, no, no, this will NOT do - no posts in forty minutes.  You'd think it was a Sunday on Memorial Day weekend.  Let us get off our complacent butt cheeks and get some action goin' on around here.

I now have to take a shower so that I will be squeeky clean and refreshed to usher in less than an hour for a local production of Quilters.  I've only seen this once before (a high school production) and I have to admit that that high school production was one of the best high school productions of any show that I had ever seen.  It was absolutely wonderful.  The actresses chosen for the roles were perfect...and they were the most experienced performers of the school.

So, I'm fairly apprehensive about seeing this.  It's being put on by a local church group and, no offense to anyone who has been a part of a church group that has put on a theatrical production, my experience has been that even though they give it their all, the end product is quite (and I mean quite) lacking in theatrical talent.  But since I am only ushering (and didn't pay), I don't have to watch it if I don't want to.  We'll see.  I'll give a report when I get back.

As a member of a church group, I quite agree with you.

I meant to comment on CARNY, too, yesterday. I found it haunting and memorable, but I've only seen it once at the theater when I first reviewed it.
