parlor does mean "place," "store," or "establishment."
It is a word that comes from old-fashioned usage, and from my experience it is only used nowadays in specific stock phrases where that has become the standard or traditional way to say it.
Pizza parlor and ice cream parlor are common, along with tattoo parlor, beauty parlor, funeral parlor, and others.
Except for stock phrases like these, parlor is not in common use. You can't just add parlor to any word, such as "candy parlor" or "Chinese food parlor."
