OMG - how could I have forgotten the movie that is ONE big chase scene.  One of my all-time favorites ending with a great ACTION scene:

Ladies and gentlemen:  NORTH BY NORTHWEST.

Gosh, Yes!  And also the attack on downtown Bodega Bay in The Boids.

I like the car chases from both Bullitt and The French Connection (the To Live and Die in LA one is good, but I find it a bit over the top). ...I find most of today's action scenes not so interesting, because too much obvious CGI is used.
So, of course, right now there's a non-CGI chase and hostage situation in LA.  It's being broadcast on the news nets.  How   ::)  thrilling.

At least, from what I can tell they still aren't using CGI for the news nets car chases.  Those CGI guys are getting awfully (and I mean that in every sense) clever.

EARTH VS THE SPIDER had its moments....Sally Fraser struggling to get her baby out of a high chair when the spider comes a callin'!!  Does anyone use a high chair anymore?

I think MR BK could apprise us of the results of the action sequences in TARGET EARTH.

How does one go about getting a Bar Code, and how much does it cost?  And do you have to get a new one for every product or are you given a selection of them to use as needed?

This morning I went for a walk, and this is what I saw:

The duck picture is marvelous!

It also reminds me of a story:

The office park (and I use that term loosely) where Dear Partner John works apparently has a couple of ponds near the access road, populated with ducks.  John has told me before of some of their more outstanding appearances.  The most recent one involves a Mom Duck, a Dad Duck and several little ducklings.  It seems that they decided to cross the road (anybody want to tell me why? ;)), right around quittin' time.  Mom was leading, and several of der kinder were waddling with her, as Dad brought up the rear.  Seems there was one duckling who was rather fascinated with something, and was dawdling.  Seeing this, Dad circled around his progeny, opened his wing, and smacked him upside the head!  It worked, because John said that he scurried up to be with his brothers and sisters.

I know nobody asked, but in addition to the Tony's, some other theatrical awards were distributed on Sunday.  The Rochester Stars of Tomorrow ceremony was held that afternoon, to be televised on our local NBC affiliate in 2 weeks.

All in all, we were pleased with how the winners turned out.  In fact there was a tie in one particularly tough category (believe it or not, Best Actor).  And the CRAZY FOR YOU, from Lyndonville High School, was the big winner in our division.  Deservedly so.

The only problem is the Auditorium Theatre (no matter how redundantly named) was built in 1928, before the advent of air conditioning.  Put a sunnny 84 degree afternoon together with 2800 screaming teenagers, and it was quite the afternoon.

OK, I exaggerate.

Strike fabulously.

DR VIXMOM mentioned the barn-raising sequence as an action one, and so I am impelled to also add:

"Guenevere" from the movie CAMELOT, which for all its shortcomings, was able to put visuals to that wonderful song - Lancelot on his horse, Guen at the stake, and all the blood and gore.

And - lest I forget - another musical action scene: The Dance At The Gym.

I have just listened again to the OBC of WEST SIDE STORY - I don't think I played the CD when I bought it - I love the soundtrack so much.

WOW!  I hang my head that I have taken this great score and this great recording for granted.    It is as fresh and exciting as the day it was captured on tape.

Did Leonard Bernstein notate the percussion in the numbers - where to play, what rhythm, and what instrument - or did the orchestrator do that?  It is perfect! ;D

Back from a lovely breakfast with Jane, and now I must be on my way to Vinnie's.  Keep the home fries burning until my returning, which won't be too too long.

Barcodes: One has to apply with the UPC code place.  You have to project sales (very hard to do - I just came up with an arbitrary number and probably should have come up with a lower figure), answer all sorts of questions, and then it takes two business days to be approved.  The fee, in the case of Kritzerland, is $750.  That buys us as many barcodes as we need.

And then there was the Czechoslovakian robber chased by the police, who ran into a bank and asked, "Can you chache a Czeck?"

I will certainly make the book reading in Tigard. Don't know about the Sunday night get together, yet.

What is the 24 and 25 show? Is BK staying the whole week?

Hopefully DR SWW I will able to get my hair cut tomorrow.

And then there was the lonesome Czchechoslavakian bachelor who was looking for his Czchec Mate.

My brother just left (he arrived much earlier than planned). After we watched the segment from LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING (the cave of the dead sequence with the avalanche of skulls), he flipped out his cell phone, called his wife, and said, "The floor was shaking. We've got to get a set-up like this."

Way down upon the Mississippi, two tugboat captains who had been friends for years, would always cry "Aye!" and blow their whistles whenever they passed each other.

A new crewman asked his boat's mate, "What did they do that for?"

The mate looked surprised and replied, "You mean that you've never heard of...an aye for an aye and a toot for a toot?"
